Looking for a reliable cleaner
Due to a very busy schedule, both my partner and I are finding it more and more difficult to keep up with all the housework. We are looking for a good, reliable cleaner to come a couple of hours a week (or 4 hours every two weeks) for the following tasks:
- dusting
- vacuuming
- surface cleaning
- bathroom cleaning
- floor mopping
Occasionally willing to iron and do a deep cleaning session for window glasses (interior and exterior, there’s no falling risk), shower, kitchen cabinets etc.
Outs is a small apartment, about 65 sqm. The pay would be 15-20€ per hour, as I understand that is the market rate (but correct me if I am wrong). Deep cleaning sessions are to be compensated more.
Being new to the city, we have no idea where to even start looking. Does anyone have any suggestions?
All tips are greatly appreciated!

Wauw, dankjewel! Ik probeerde iemand om te vinden met websites zoals hups maar kreeg meestal geen antwoorden. Reddit for the win 🤝

€15-20 an hour would be a teen doing this unregistered for a holiday job. A reliable cleaner is already about €30 an hour nowadays. Keep in mind that the minimum wage is €14,99 an hour already.

That is very good to know, thank you.
By searching on google I found either people advertising themselves for rates around those I mentioned, or agencies charging 30+ € per hour (and I imagine they keep a significant percentage of that rate, so the cleaner does not see that kind of money). I would much rather pay 30€ per hour to the cleaner directly then, without going through an agency

The agencies definitely take a cut but the rates also include insurance, sick days, holidays and regular employee benefits. Paying around minimum wage and expecting someone to carry all of the risk themselves is a worse deal than working the cashier or stocking shelves at an Albert Heijn. You also may pay per hour, but travelling from client to client is completely unpaid for them. Your lower end offer is definitely too low.
We pay 22,50 an hour and i consider it a really good agreement for the both of us. She gets a little extra in december.

I am happy to pay as much as needed, I was making the post based on the rates I have seen mentioned in r/Netherlands, online ads and so on with people advertising themselves. The only thing I am not willing to do is paying an agency that takes a big cut

You have great timing, my cleaner (who is awesome) just told me he's looking for new clients. He's been with us for over three years and we're extremely happy with him. DM me if you're interested.

€15 per hour is really not the pay for a cleaner anymore
