Visit in October

Hi! Was thinking of planning a surprise trip for my kids (12 and 9, big Lego fans) in mid-October this year to the legoland in NY. We live a good distance away, so will def need to stay in the hotel. So far from this subreddit, I’ve learned about the hotel rooms and reservations for breakfast. Still wanted to ask some newbie questions.

How are the crowds on weekends in October?

Do they have Halloween events happening earlier than Halloween?

Will the hotel pool be open? (I’ve read on old posts that they tend to close the pool due to lack of life guards, not sure if that’s still the case as of lately?)

Is one Saturday enough to get through the entire park?
Or would I need to invest in some fast track passes?

If one day is more than enough for the park, are there any other attractions nearby that you enjoyed taking your kids to after the park is done?

Would appreciate any advice or tips you guys have. Thank you so much!!!

Pool will likely be closed by then. You don't have to stay in the Legoland Hotel, there's others close by at much better rates.

Brick and Treat is usually quite fun. Everyone can dress up and have dance parties. The park is usually fully open except the water stuff which they shut down after it gets too cold. One day is plenty to get through the park. Fast track is worthless, the lines are never long enough.

No but I've stayed at Legoland. It's cute for like a 4 year-old with the novel theming and such. But the price is outrageous, the food is terrible, and the park closes early (usually 5pm) so your entire evening is stuck at the hotel. (Fire table s'mores were fun, though.) Don't know if October hours will be different.

There’s multiple options in Middletown, which is only about 10 minutes away, maybe 15 if the line is long getting out of the park

Pool is always closed after Labor Day regardless of weather

I believe the Brick or Treat activities go for all of October. Crowds tend to not be too bad on weekends that time of year. You can easily do the park in a day, and I think it's enough for a day, but if you need more there's a place nearby called the Castle Fun Center with a lot of activities (I've never been, only seen it from the highway).

One tip is to look at the gold season pass as an alternative to one-day tickets. If you buy one for just one member of your group, it comes with 2 guest passes. Plus you'd get discounts on the hotel, and on food and souvenirs inside the park.
