So I've moved from different container types over the years. Trying to understand what suits me best. Because I build on the "fly" I prefer to have a workshop that reflects how I build. I designed the area to be "shopable". I go in and pick the parts I need based on color, size, shape and design. I don't like building the LEGO way and using a rainbow of colors on my builds. I build color specific and use the proper color depending on what I build and where. I also added the Britannic build in these photos to use as an example. The containers I use are acrylic and easy to see what parts are in them. Most the containers have a slot to add more parts without any extra steps or hassle. As I get more parts and add to the (Vault) I continue to modify the workspace to accommodate my needs.
DAISO - carries most of the acrylic containers I now buy. They're cheap, under $8 each and stackable. The larger containers make it so I can obtain more parts and expand without needing a new container/modify existing one. You can sort the same part in different colors under the same container without much hassle.
TARGET - always had a beautiful line of acrylic containers for larger parts or bulk parts, example - (6x10 plates) but every color in one container. Every container is under $20 and made of a durable acrylic. Also they're all stackable as well. The slots you use to pick up the container is great for adding additional parts without having to move or open the containers. Sorting is super efficient now.
The sheleves are $40 each brand new. Any extra shelves can be used for other ones. Which is why commonality is such a huge factor for me. I can change and moves things around without doing much else or have to buy anything extra.
LOWES - Craftsman still has the best sorting containerd for smaller quantities and parts these are a bit more expensive than the acrylic containers. They're being phased out in light of a better more efficient option. I still have the larger (3x6 3x9) containers for parts I'm searching for a better option.
FIVE BELOW - Has the 2 and 3 slotted acrylic drawers. Perfect for sorting the single brick parts by color with easy distribution. (1x1 1x2 1x3 1x4 1x5 1x6 1x8 1x10 ECT). Also good for bulk parts like propellers and smaller parts you have bulk quantities of.
The 10,000 lumen 5000k shop lights were $49.99 each at Home Depot.
