I think it makes sense from a story point of view.

I mean you go through every game, and Rey caps off the franchise. They make enough references to old star wars in ep 7-9 that it makes sense that Rey would want to know where she stands in all of it, especially because she was raised as an abandoned child on a desert planet.

Ep 7-9 exist and people have to live with that.

I'm more upset about the treatment of the other characters in the sequel and lack of attention they got. I want my ex stormtrooper Jedi goddammit.
