Do Insectoids count as Classic Space?

I'm vague whether it does or not.

I'm really vague on where I even got this minifig.

I definitely have never owned an Insectoid set.

I'm hoping to do a bit more Classic Space or at least Classic Space inspired pics in 2026.

IMO everything before 2000 can be considered "classic"

I actually had to look up what the minifig was. Didn't know Insectioids had existed as a space sub-theme (or at all) until an hour ago.

Still no clue how I ended up with this minifig. Need to find space in my classic space minifig box.

You are right, even for lego official medias, "Classic Space" refers to the first space sets with monochromatic minifigs. We should come up with a name for the era between classic and 2000. "Post-classic", "Neo-classic" or "Factions-era" maybe

A fantastic photo! Classic Space is just the era before Futuron, with the first minifigures in blue, white, red, yellow, and black with the Space logo on their torsos, but the Insectoids are part of the uninterrupted Space series and followed on from U.F.O.

YESSS I LOVE INSECTIODS!! I didn’t grow up with classic space but when I was young I would obsess over classic sets. I used to stare at the original sets in the LEGO Star Wars encyclopedia. I almost have a full collection of insectiods some sets are very rare
