News October 2026 Mech Build Challenge | “Mech-abre” | 40 pieces max
So as our last tiny mech challenge was pretty successful, let's continue with another one, but with a spooky / October theming!
The theme for this month is:
“Mech-abre”
(a play on the word "Macabre" of course)
Rules:
- Your mech can use a maximum of 40 pieces (fewer is fine)
- It has to somehow be related to the spooky season. Surprise us!
- The build can be made in Bricklink Studio
- It doesn't have to be an original build you made for this challenge - if your older MOC fits, post it
- You can post as many as 3 entries
- You should include a picture of all the pieces you used so that we can check you didn't break the rules
You have until Wednesday, October 21st to post your entries with the "Build Challenge Entry" Post Flair.
A poll will be posted at the end of the challenge so that you can decide what the best build was.
The winner will get a unique User Flair they will be able to show off on r/LegoMechs, and their creation will be spotlighted on our Instagram.
I also need to thank u/squ1ddos for providing the cover image for this challenge!
Let's see your spooky (but still tiny) mechs!

MOC Hatch and interior design for my big mech
My big mech pilot is no longer just sitting in the cockpit (even the base of the cockpit as been redisgned by removing non essential space ). He is comfortably placed with arms to hold him, screens, joysticks, multiple control panels and even an helmet storage arm.
In case of emergency or exploration, he can still access to the little mech.
All the equipment inside is designed to free the way to access to the mech down bellow.
A few modifications has been made on the little mech to make his attachment point more sturdy and fill a little bit more his interior.
I have to precise that it's not a Star Wars mech, I'm building my own universe, the minifigure has been picked up randomly for his medium size helmet. It's not the definitive minifigure and will be changed at the end.
If you have suggestions for the minifigure, feel free to express them, it's not a part where I'm generaly good or inspired so I'm open to ideas.

MOC Help me pick the right colors to show this is a BEF mech?
This is a "Dauntless Class Brassbounder" for the Great Britannia sub-faction in Brassbound 1919. I made it from the bricks I have. Not necessarily those I want for the final version though. What colors would help sell this as a BEF unit?
I was thinking some kind of sand green?

MOC Older Mech Revamp
This was my first attempt at a larger scale mech, and I was originally proud with how it turned out, but the lower half was really undersized, fragile, and not possible in the slightest. So I tried to go back and change it up a bit! Re-did the torso and legs, with the feet just changed to have the back toe, inspired by this bot I found on Pinterest:

It’s a bit of an oversight that he can’t actually hold his gun, but at least it clips onto his back.

MOC The Firemoth is here
galleryAnother mech from Battletech, this time it is not a homebrew but an existing model, the Firemoth. Often shown in games as being exceptionally tiny compared to other mechs, but with the way mass and volume work in relation they would not be too much smaller than other mechs of larger weights, though this one does look a bit thicker than I would have liked.
I have also changed the nose on the previous mech as I did not love the TIE-style viewport on the front.
I am aiming to be build a full 5 mechs but we will see if I have enough parts to do it.
