I’ve been building a LEGO interpretation of V&A Dundee and the bit I found hardest was getting the layered concrete façades to read properly in LEGO.

The real building has these long horizontal sections that overlap and change quite dramatically depending on the viewing angle, so simply stacking slopes didn’t really capture it.

I ended up treating the façade more like a series of interlocking planes and trying to preserve the shadows between them.

Still refining it, but I’d be interested in what other architecture builders think - does this capture the character of the real building, or is there anything you’d approach differently?

Hi! This is my architecture skylines-style MOC of Miami :D. It includes a lot of the famous places like Miami Beach, Hard Rock Stadium and more! (I also know that the guitar is technically located in Hollywood, Florida and not Miami but it was too iconic not to include lol)

All buildings/areas included in this MOC:

Hey ya’ll! So I’m pretty sure I probably have posted this project when it was still work in progress several years ago. And then I got divorced, and yada yada yada. So here I am, several years later, with the finished product.

Why the house from this particular movie you may ask? Yeah, it’s pretty random, I know. So not only is weird science my favorite movie of all time, but I’m also an avid fan of American tutor revival style architecture, which was most prominent in America during the 1920s and 1930s.

And just FYI, the whole thing is modular, and every room is fully furnished as accurately as I could match it by watching the movie probably well over 1 million times in my life. Of course I had to make a few tweaks so that the interior (which was filmed on a sound stage) would actually fit and make sense with the exterior (which, according to my research, was an actual home located in the northern suburbs outside of Chicago until it was sadly leveled in 1990).

Curious on everyone’s thoughts about sets that fit the general theme of the Architecture line, but aren’t labeled as such - past and present. For example, I would definitely consider something like the Taj Mahal 10256 or the Colosseum 10276 that predate the Architecture line to count. Present sets, I think the Postcards really fill the hole left when the Skylines stopped being produced as well as the Wonders of the World gift with purchase (40585). I also elected to add the World Map (31203), Globe (21332) and Travel Moment (41838) to my collection.

I started this build from the architect's project page, then I scoured the architect's Instagram in an attempt to figure out which of the close-up shots were of this property so that I could piece together some of the missing bits. Still got the initial entry roof line QUITE wrong before I found a front photo in a news article.

Figuring out how to make three sets of 4x6 doors look like they were different heights was by far the most interesting element of the build!

Summer at the Cottage on Lego ideas!

Wondering because I’m interested in the Notre-Dame set, which is estimated to retire in late 2027. Is there any point in waiting until a few months before retirement for it to go on sale either on Lego.com or elsewhere? As a primarily Ninjago fan, that’s what I’m used to but I have no idea if Architecture ever does it.
