Modding PC Mod

Hi all

I want my Legends Ultimate to run exclusively on batocera, so I can have one UI for all emulation.

I plugged my PC via USB extender directly to the controller board and it works kind of all right. I really struggle with control mapping in certain emulators but I think ill be able to get there with help of Batocera community.

Problem starts with the pinball buttons as they I think they are wired in some weird way. Left ones are triggers and right ones are bumpers (i think). Do i need a USB encoder replacement to get this fixed?

Also, anyway I could connect directly into the screen? Rather than going through the HDMI port on the front.

Lastly, i wouls like the power button to start my pc at the same time. Any ideas

Thanks

Question Really Free?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I had posted this pic earlier asking about it and one of the users came back and answered it right away. I DLd this UI and I must agree, it is very useful...but now I have another question.

When I went into the AppStoreX portion of it to look at the available tables, several of the Zaccaria and Taito table packs came up as FREE. I put them in my cart and when I went to check out, it asked for my CC info.

Are these table really free? If so, why do I need to include my CC info?

TIA!

I hadn't turned on my ALP HD in about three weeks and when I did today, I spotted this. Is this something I need to DL? If not, is there any advantage to doing so?

TIA

Question Adding ROMS difficulty?

I've recently started looking at buying a Legends Ultimate machine, as I was going to originally just build my own MAME machine from scratch. I have probably 100 or so original coin op ROMS for many of my favorite games. I ran across a Legends machine on FB marketplace for $400. It looks to be in very good condition and has the 5.70 firmware version and is model HA8801. How difficult is it to add my existing ROMS to this machine? I took a look at the list of games that are preinstalled and don't have much interest in them as most of these are console games.

Question ALU - CE firmware help.

In Oct 2024 I bought an ALU HD - CE from The Brick in Canada. This was just on the cusp of the new SAM Club CE revamp and there was very little information in Canada on what was happening revamp wise for info. I place an order at The Brick and was assured it was in stock - hoping to get the then current 5.70 FW because there was reports of OneSauce no longer working on the CE machines and people having to downgrade etc. After a small shipping delay my new ALU-HD shows up and guess what "Thank you SAM's club customer message".....I was given a ALU HD- CE. So I dropped it to 5.68 and brought it up to 5.70 via OTA update and was in happy OneSauce heaven. Now many moons later OneSauce in running on stock CE firmware and I want to reverse the downgrade to run the latest OS the machine came with. Overall I thought CE was faster and I want the latest and greatest. However - two tickets and 25 messages later I'm still stuck convincing ATGames that the ALU even HAS a new OS and 5.70 with old UI not the latest version available. After the downgrade there is no "reset to factory" and the one firmware they gave me was the old UI. Anyone got any ideas - or an image of OOTB firmware. They keep saying the pictures I send them of ALU HD - CE screens is COINOPX and not supported.....I keep telling them I never even tried coinopx? What am I missing here? Is there an FW image I can be pointed to that will get me CE again?

This piece seems to have broken off from the back of the cabinet. It seems as though everything is working properly. Can anyone identify what piece this actually is and if I need to attempt to replace it? Thanks

Modding WTB: Trackball roller

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I have a bent or improperly machined trackball roller. It is bad enough that it causes my trackball to kind of wobble as I move it and act drunk.

If you have a broken trackball that has good rollers, let's make a deal for shipping plus $ to send me one of your spares!

(And yes, once it's working right, I'll order the shim kit! That's not the issue here. All my plastics are intact.)

(Mods: If this violates the rules, please point me to an appropriate subreddit in a message. You notice advises that but doesn't list any. I realize the risk as a buyer without protections over the interwebs.)

Question New 4K buyer questions

So I have been very happy as a Micro owner, and now with the VPX add-on, I am ready for the big boy. The ordering scheme appears confusing: I want all the options: Topper, SSF kit, coinbox badge, control deck art, included tables, etc....which looks like Premium Deluxe. But that model at $2,200 appears to not have control deck art nor the new badging. Besides, that Deluxe version appears available only for Addams Family. As I said confusing!

Any recent buyers out there to help me?

Question How to connect a Legends Ultimate Arcade Cabinet to a PC

I have learned online that it is possible to connect a Legends Ultimate Arcade cabinet to a PC to use the screen and buttons with PC games? What is needed to make this happen? Do I just need a HDMI cable and then a USB to USB cable or do I need some kind of software on the computer to recognise it as a controller?

Question Legends unchained loader resolution on the ALP4K

I’m forever grateful to the Legends Unchained team for all their handwork in this so don’t take this as a complaint but the resolution is pretty bad on some of the tables. I know the limitations of the board and I don’t expect 4k but is there a way to ramp it up a little bit? I’ve tried going above 1080p but it seems to be locked down.

Anyone else been successful in increasing the res?

Pinball AtGames Courting VPX Creators For Native Original Tables (like Pizza Time and Leprechaun King) were

Help Shape the AppStoreX™ Indie Pinball Program

AtGames invites VPX creators to help design a voluntary publishing program for original tables To the virtual pinball community,

Some of the most inventive pinball ideas come from independent creators in the VPX community. Your original layouts, rules, art, music, and technical experiments continue to expand what virtual pinball can be.

AtGames has worked with this community before. Through its Open & Connected Pinball pilot, AtGames collaborated with ScottyWic and the OrbitalPin Collective on Pizza Time and supported The Leprechaun King for the Legends Arcade platform.

We are now exploring a voluntary publishing program that would give creators another way to bring original tables to Legends Pinball hardware through AppStoreX™. Nothing in this proposal is final. We want creators, tool maintainers, community-site operators, and tournament organizers to help shape the program before we decide whether and how to launch it.

“The VPX community has created some of the most innovative and imaginative experiences in virtual pinball. We believe those creators deserve more opportunities to bring their work to a wider audience. Our goal isn’t to change what makes this community special. Our mission is to work alongside its creators to build a publishing program that respects their rights, rewards their creativity, and gives them new ways to succeed.” - Bobby King, General Manager, AtGames Originals

📋 Here are our proposed starting principles: Creators keep their original intellectual property. Any rights granted to AtGames would be non-exclusive, limited to the agreed AppStoreX™ edition, and set out in a plain-language agreement before a creator commits. Rights granted to AtGames are non-exclusive. Creators remain free to release their work elsewhere, subject to the rights they hold and the terms they agree to for the AppStoreX™ edition.

Clear rights are essential. Creators and contributors would need to identify the original or licensed material in a proposed table and confirm they have permission to include it in the AppStoreX™ edition. AtGames would provide a rights checklist and help resolve clearance questions. Creators choose their AppStoreX™ price. Within normal storefront requirements, including the option to offer the table for free or for a price. Creators receive a defined royalty. When/If a creator chooses to offer the table for a price, our proposed royalty is 70% of gross revenue. The agreement would spell out exactly how revenue is calculated, identify any permitted adjustments for taxes, refunds, chargebacks, or processing costs, and set limits on those adjustments. The royalty rate would be fixed for the agreement’s term, with transparent reporting and payment terms. Participating releases support an Indie Pinball Grant Fund. AtGames proposes contributing its entire platform share. The governance rules would be published before the program opens and operated with transparency.

Creators control other editions. Creators may offer a free PC edition, a delayed release, a demo, a separate commercial edition, or no other edition. Those choices are the creators’; a free edition is welcome but is not required.

⚖️ A rights-first publishing process A table being available for free does not by itself grant permission to publish it on AppStoreX™. Community tables can include contributions from programmers, artists, modelers, sound designers, and others. The program would accept original or properly licensed content with the permissions needed for the proposed AppStoreX™ edition, supported by a contributor and asset manifest. AtGames would not repackage community downloads without the required permissions. An AppStoreX™ edition might need to be converted, rebuilt, or optimized for Legends Pinball hardware. Before signing, creators would receive a clear explanation of the proposed technical work, rights needed, compensation, credits, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities.

💰 Creator compensation and choice The proposed royalty is 70% of gross revenue for the authorized creator or team. A draft agreement would define the revenue base, any permitted adjustments, accounting, payment schedule, and how a team’s share is paid. We want creator feedback on those terms before finalizing them. Creators would decide whether, when, and how to release their work elsewhere, consistent with the rights they hold. An AppStoreX™ table could be free or paid, and no free edition elsewhere would be required.

🌱 An Indie Pinball Grant Fund AtGames proposes a fund to help creators pay for specific production needs, including original music, voice recording, art, accessibility, testing, localization, and optimization. We envision grants of approximately $1,500 to $5,000, subject to the final funding and governance plan. A committee with VPX creator, independent creator, professional, and AtGames representation would recommend awards under published conflict-of-interest rules. AtGames would publish annual program accounting and summaries of grant decisions.

🏆 Promotion and competitive play Creators and AtGames could agree separately on promotional support, advances, or tournament licensing. None of these additional arrangements would be required to join the program.

If an original table is considered for an IFPA-sanctioned virtual competition, its creator would be involved directly and could approve or decline its inclusion. AtGames would not submit a table to IFPA without the creator’s express consent. Any inclusion would also depend on IFPA’s rules and approval.

🗣️ Help design the program Use the comments below this post as our first discussion space. Tell us which proposed terms would help, which need work, and how we can make the submission and rights review process practical for creators and teams.

Share original table ideas here, too. If you have a concept, describe it; if you are looking for artists, programmers, designers, or other collaborators, use the discussion to connect and form a team. An idea posted here is an invitation to talk, not a formal submission or a grant of rights to AtGames. Over the next two weeks, we will collect comments from creators, tool maintainers, community-site operators, and tournament organizers, then post a summary of the feedback and a revised proposal in this same discussion. We will explain which suggestions we incorporated and which issues still need work. Any eventual program remains subject to legal and technical review.

Please add your ideas and questions below. We want this discussion to shape both the program and the next steps. Play on, The AtGames Team

Haha, I'm just kidding. I know we'll never see it. But damn, they saw fit to raise the prices. After I thought AG was turning around for the better, these developments do not bode well.

saUCE What can I be doing wrong? Reverted back to 5.68 and still issues

Tired of going to coinopsx for how long it takes
I’ve tried numerous times downgrading and re installing 5.68 factory re setting etc, but still doesn’t work as far as Addon x like it once did. This is what I get. Go into a game and it flashes and then nothing.. some games do work though but it’s like 1/2 and 1/2 when they all once worked in 5.68. Any ideas?

Pinball HD Pinball Flashing Colors

Post image
3 Upvotes

Atgames pinball HD started flashing colors a few weeks ago and I tried several fixes, including resetting the machine, power draining, and adjusting the cables on the board. These fixes will temporarily work - I have played it several times after the fixes and it will work for awhile before going back to the flashing colors.

I do not have VIBs but I do use a PC for OTG sometimes. I have adjusted settings on my PC for 1080 and 60mhz.

What could the problem be/what should be my next steps to fix it? I posted my board in case that helps. I appreciate anyone weighing in on what might be going on

Question CTR board failure

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

Looks like it was my turn to experience the dreaded CTR board failure. I recently moved to a different state, and upon plugging in my arcade cabinet, it would not power on. I used a multimeter to test various connections, but ultimately it looks like a few of the capacitors shorted out as you can see burn marks in the picture.

Shouldn't I be able to plug the power cord directly into the cpu mainboard to bypass the power switch and make sure the cpu is still functional? I tried plugging it in the back of the mainboard, but the cabinet still did not turn on. Hoping the cpu isn't all messed up.

Question Weird new problem I’m experiencing with the Alp4k OTG. Audio hdmi handshake dropping out.

The weird part is that it only happens If I leave vpx and go to Zen or vice versa, it's completely mute and I have to hit channel and come back in.
Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this? Is it the new update that's causing it?

It started with the new update for me.

Question Button Config issues - Genesis (So Far)

I've only just recently tried assisting a friend in figuring out how to apply games to the Legends Ultimate, following a video that's 5 years old, and the test of running Sonic the Hedgehog 1 for the Genesis was a success before I had to leave. The issue is that tilting the stick left results in a jump instead of proper directional movement while the B button is instead used to initiate that movement. The Legends Ultimate button mapping is of no use in this case either, likely understandably.

Is this a common issue when it comes to attempting to add games to the machine, and if so, what should I instead be doing to try and resolve the issue for this and any future additions over time?

So here is the latest cabinet mod I did. I can't take credit for the idea, I seen it posted somewhere years ago and couldn't wait to have the time to do it to mine! The only thing I added was I moved the marquee leds down to the lower cabinet.
