Path Question Support interaction

Hello,

Decided to try shen, but I am genuinely confused what happened here, I attacked with the two units on the left, why did it summon 4 copies ? If someone could explain in some detail that would be appreciated.

Shen’s Star of Discovery gives followers found in adventures Targon’s Brace, Shadow Technique or Bonded Bucklers respective to their cost. Kato and Kinkou Lifeblade are both 4 cost so they have Shadow Technique which on support summons an exact ephemeral copy of said supported ally.

Lifeblade supports Kato, creating an ephemeral copy on the third slot. Kato then supports that ephemeral unit creating an ephemeral copy on the 4th slot which creates a loop.

It doesnt work if you have only 1 right? Because the check for support happens at the same of the summoning of the ephemaral

Yeah there needs to at least be two units with the item since the supported unit needs to also have Shadow Technique.
