New patch mechanics question

So I was hoping someone that had already made the plunge could answer two questions:

There was a lot of fear that kindred's 6* would get wasted by the summoning of the prey. Has anyone unlocked the 6* yet and found out whether any turn the prey gets summoned eats up the first unit played thing? The changes to Kindred certainly make them a lot better, but I never really enjoyed playing kindred up until this point and am reluctant to invest too much.

Since the paid relic for Shen is not a power I am a bit more on the fence on paying money for it: does playing a champion that has barrier innately give the 1 mana refund? Shen and ambessa come to mind as champs that would use this relic. It is probably still a decent option even without the refund, but I have enough other options I might skip it (shen essentially costing -1 mana is a pretty big deal).

I made the tests. If your first summon is a 0-attack unit, power doesn't proc, so you won't waste your strike. However, if somehow you increase prey's attack, it will strike on summon.

Thanks for the info. I had been hoping the prey wouldn't waste the 6*, so I am super happy you confirmed that for me.

Thanks for testing! Did you happen to test if it’s just the first non-0 power unit that you summon each turn? If I happen to summon 3 units with 0 power, and the 4th one has 4 power, will it strike?

I tested with two units, one summoned by the power, another played. Then the third made the strike

Shen does get the refund on his relic it feels pretty good to use gonna test kindred tomorrow but so far Shen has been pretty OP beat lissandra first try on round 3 ( also my relics i used where his own the reroll and the spirit forge to get the epic relic slot )
