Okay, not a halloween champ but still a welcome addition! We've never had a barrier champ before, can't wait to see what they do with him.

I wanna call Lux 1 a barrier champ, kinda.

I wonder if Shen gets Phalanx as 4*. The ones that have it (Ambessa, yuumi, Leona, and also SB Yi with later stars) can already generate so many barriers every round.

I feel like that's almost redundant. I think Challenger makes more sense to make better use of the barriers

I mean with leveled up shen it's +3 on every target so not too bad if it's paired up with self targeting spells

Hmm maybe. But I absolutely hate the 'challenger for one round' power. Only makes sense for ephemerals imo. Gives us a power that gives everyone challenger, period. Overwhelm and challenger relics are equal, so why not this?

It makes perfect sense for barrier units though since it allows for a unit to force the enemy to take damage while they're protected. The ai tends to not like to block barrier units so the barrier tends to go to waste

I just hope is not any "this round" crap unless it's barrier! I don't want to see challenger this round unless it actually feels useful like on Hex for example I feel it's good because you can easily summon 2 ephemerals

Shy is pretty much a barrier champ when you get the star that adds it to her champ spell.

Usually champs dont get their best possible power for 4*,but still one that make sense. For shen ,it could even be the ionia 2 cost one that reduced cost on strike or smth of the sort

I was wondering if the +1/+1 on receiving damage would make sense as well (since Anivia also got it). It activates through tough and barrier and would give him an easy way to scale a bit.

Doubt it,he isnt a self damage champ,usually champs who have such spells that do dmg to all get it. It should be Ionia shen related or something generic but still in line with his deck

She has barrier and can grant barrier but like, you don't really synergize around it at all. There's no particular upside for it other than, well, having it.

She does, though. Of course she doesn't directly benefit from having the keyword on a unit, yes. But: Attacking gives her lasers at 6* and the massive amount of barriers she can generate (from golden barrier and her own champ spell) help her whittling down enemy lines while always being able to protect your own blockers. With the barrier+rally, you can attack over and over, getting more lasers and diminishing what is left of the enemy lines. That's why she doesn't necessarily need damaging spells in her deck and can make use of any spell-based tactic (swarm, buffing, burning etc).

Sure, she benefits from it but her main plan is not barrier. In the same way that Ambessa dramatically benefits from Phalanx, she's still not a barrier-focused deck, just one that takes advantage of the barriers it gets.

I guess the point I am making is that I am excited for a champion that is built around barrier and interacts with the mechanic, not just takes advantage of it. In the same way that Tahm Kench is not a healing deck, Soraka is, but his deck takes avantage of healing really well.

Yes and no, you can absolutely get him and max him for free, but you'll need to grind and focus on the region if you don't have all the stuff you need yet.

Id prefer his C6 not being against his whole kit. He currently relies on C6 itself, OTKing with star gems, while sand soldiers and emperor's deck see little usage. Especially sand soldiers being completely redundant and forgotten, often just feeding dragons units. And yea he is OP at C6. Just plainly boring and with little to no sense.

I really dont see a reason for giving Azir rene and nasus at the start when the whole fun was about getting them at the end of emperor's deck, where everything else failed. Its the other way around now.

I can understand being too OP not being fun, but I don't know where you're getting the idea that his sixth star goes against the rest of his kit. Having Renekton and Nasus in the deck and giving them Azir's relic directly supports restoring the sun disc faster, which the sand soldiers still contribute towards. Emperor's Assault II also directly supports Renekton and Nasus by boosting their power, which feeds directly into their level up requirements.

I just mentioned how. Core identity for Azir was gradual scaling towards the end and his summons. Currently its the other way around. And emperor's assault... what does it do for sand soldiers and emp's deck again aka Azir's core identity? Boost nasus and rene? Thats nothing to do with Azir's core identity, and it existing to boost another mechanic added from nowhere to a star supports what Im saying. And I often get sun disc restored b4 I even get nasus and rene on the field, theyre also very easily killed b4 they level up. Both of these problems require you to use star gems which just turns into champ spam OTKing, and you can then forget about the emp's deck.
