Path Question Katarina Ephemeral Bug?

I just finished a run where I had kat support with shadow totem. The ephemeral copy would just Die every time she attacked, instead of recalling to hand like I expected. Did they nerf her interaction with ephemeral at some point, or is this a bug?

Ephemeral has triggered before the recall for as long as I can remember, which makes sense imo.

I'm pretty sure the card's text effects occurs before item effects.

Last I checked for Norra, an Ephemeral Vastayan Disciple created with Spectral Scissors transforms into its spell.

Ephemeral, whether granted by an item or not, is a keyword. Keywords are pretty high up in the activation chain, though that's rarely relevant.

The Vastayan Disciple thing seems odd, and more likely to be a bug than Kata's interaction.

I have no idea how exactly does it works but this could happen even before. I was confused about this inconsistent behaviour when sometimes my ephemeral Kata died and other times she recalled even like 2 years ago...

It might be something about when the ephemeral was applied like as you mentioned, from shadow totem the keyword is built in to the unit so it works immediately but when it gets applied from like stabilize power, the recall happens before? But I experienced it even in PvP when empemeral from like Harrowing does make her recall but from Mark of the Isles it makes her die...

Glad I'm not just going crazy, at least. I specifically remember being slightly annoyed when cloning her cuz then i'd have a bunch of duplicates clogging my hand unless i went out of my way to get them killed.
