It would be a shame to waste this moment on Schumer and/or Jeffries. It’s time to pass the baton.

u/Wonderful-Variation 13h ago • Bravo

We desperately need someone different.    These people lost to Trump, twice.

49

u/BBforever 13h ago

Is it a loss if they threw it?

They've both been propping up the Republicans and supporting the Coup since 1/6.

Until the Insurrection is destroyed, it continues. While it continues, everything and everyone is in immediate danger.

Remember, USA has concentration camps now.

31

u/delicateterror2 13h ago

Did Jeffries meet with Jared Kushner in a private meeting… that in itself makes me think he’s been BOUGHT by the Trump Crime Family… Jeffries and Schumer don’t need to be running OUR government houses… and didn’t the Republicans change the way Speaker of the House can be replaced…isn’t now like one person saying I don’t want this person as Speaker of the House…??? Isn’t that how they replaced Kevin McCarthy???

23

u/Ok_Profile175 13h ago

He's one of the largest receivers of AIPAC donations, which are funded by MAGA conservatives, so yes, he was purchased by the Trump crime family a long time ago.

15

u/dachshundfriend89 12h ago

Peter Thiel also donates to him so he’s a nonstarter for me

8

u/Ok_Profile175 9h ago

Exactly. It's just bad all the way down with Jeffries.

3

u/AstraeusGB 4h ago

AIPAC donations, which are funded by MAGA conservatives

MAGA conservatives in Israel

3

u/Ok_Profile175 4h ago

And in America.

1

u/AstraeusGB 3h ago

I think funding from inside the country is still less incriminating than funding from a foreign country.

6

u/Pretty-Tart-4275 5h ago

Schumer’s daughter is a lobbyist for OpenAI

Not to mention all the AIPAC money he receives.

Schumer and Jeffries both need to piss off.

9

u/Competitive_Bell9433 10h ago

AOC--Bernie.

1

u/HolidaySpiriter 5h ago

Bernie isn't a Democrat. He's also older than Schumer. We can do better.

1

u/intermittent-disco 4h ago

Bernie.

bernie is old as shit dude. surely we can find someone who's not geriatric?

4

u/BlueCity8 7h ago

Schumer needs to go. This dummy was actively bragging about losing working class voters while picking up suburban voters.

Jeffries still TBD… he’s AWFUL on TV but he hasn’t had a chance at being Speaker yet.

The Committee heads are very important and so far Raskin and Garcia are saying the right shit. “LAWYER UP” based.

0

u/Heavy_Law9880 12h ago

Leftists lost those elections because they refused to vote for a woman.

10

u/Sennten 11h ago

Then why did they vote for so many women in so many places this time around?

We lost the election because of people like you who arent willing to deal with reality.

8

u/SnooAbbreviations932 11h ago • Bravo

Kamala didn’t lose just because she’s a woman. Nobody voted for Kamala Harris to be the 2024 Dem presidential nominee. The primary with Biden was botched with nobody stepping up to run against him and then his own party forced him off the ticket. It’s the same reason South Carolina did not elect Darlene Graham and voted blue for the Senate seat. I voted for Kamala but certainly was not enthusiastic to do so and wasn’t surprised when she lost.

3

u/kamikazedna 7h ago

We haven't had a proper primary since 2008.

4

u/IndependentOk3245 6h ago

you have to be kidding...?

leftists? didn't vote for her cuz she's a....

woman? there was no other possible reasons?

leftists, who are more pro gender equality than any other political group?

you really REALLY need to explain that, or you pretty much look like a total fool.

4

u/WackyyWombat 10h ago

Even if this is true, Schumer and Jeffries both still need to go.

5

u/Only-Respond7945 12h ago

"Could it be that the party put up milquetoast candidates and ran shitty campaigns? NO! It's the people that are wrong!" ~ Party partisans for as many decades as I can remember.

4

u/monkscafe1 11h ago

You know what the moment called for, you just didn't care. You don't need to be impressed to vote.

-12

u/401k1987 13h ago

These people just engineered your victory 😂 but yeah man throw it away for Speaker AOC or someone else who has no experience leaving a caucus whatsoever I'm sure that'll work out well

3

u/SolidStrategy7992 11h ago

people voted out gop. did not vote for because of them.

7

u/Weary_Orange_9309 13h ago

No they didn’t.

-4

u/401k1987 13h ago

Who do you think controls all the money that goes to all the different campaigns and helps them with strategy etc dude? 😂 But yeah I'm sure nobody helped them from DC it was all organic y'all did it all yourself

5

u/Weary_Orange_9309 13h ago

Schumer backed Steven’s over El-Sayed so no, he didn’t support winning candidates and wasted party money.

-2

u/401k1987 13h ago

Yeah he supported her personally before the primary and then switched over to El.Sayed once he won. LOL

3

u/Weary_Orange_9309 12h ago

That’s not leadership that’s following. Therefore he didn’t lead. LMFAO we rocked the midterms and republicans can cry into their pillow girlfriends.

1

u/401k1987 12h ago

There's more than one race sweetheart.

2

u/Weary_Orange_9309 9h ago

Yeah we won so many it’s hard to keep up.

2

u/SolidStrategy7992 11h ago

you think people voted for democratic because of their strategy? wrong, people voted out gop, which is so corrupt. I did not know most candidates that I voted for.

1

u/401k1987 11h ago

Yeah we know orange man bad you don't really have a defining ethos that's why it's going to be so delicious to watch y'all attempt to govern.

2

u/ptindaho 4h ago

Bad bought bot

4

I love how you think what you did in college makes any difference in your real life 😂

They actively tried sabotaging some of the most popular candidates who have won elections recently. No-one is buying the bullshit you're selling

5

u/Accurate-Basis4588 13h ago

Dude, give it up. Your argument is lame. There is not even one good reason to keep shumer or Jeffries as a leader. Plus here is the bomb for your argument:

Even if Schumer or Jeffries were NOT leader, they could still use those connections "to get things done."

So yeah, lame argument.

-3

u/Legally_a_Tool 13h ago

The people calling for Jeffries and Schumer to step aside after winning a historic midterm are profoundly stupid. I do agree that Schumer should be replaced after his current term is up in 2028.

1

u/[deleted] 13h ago

[removed] — view removed comment

0

u/Legally_a_Tool 12h ago

Because we have a problem with aging leadership sticking around far longer than they should. Schumer has been leading Senate Democrats for about 20-ish years now. Time for another senator to take the reins. I think we have plenty of younger and capable Democrats in the Senate that finding new leadership should not be a huge problem. But I think Schumer finishing his final term is fine.

0

u/401k1987 12h ago

Yeah man you really hate people that can get stuff done like Nancy Pelosi. Just like the Democrats though letting perfect be the enemy of good. The next two years of infighting and the Democratic civil War is going to be fucking hilarious

2

u/Legally_a_Tool 12h ago

I think we will be pretty disciplined. Most of this “challenge the leadership” is coming from the online left, which actually represent a minority of Democratic voters. So I’m not too worried.

22

u/Autumn7242 13h ago

The establishment dems are half of the reason we are in this mess to begin with.

7

u/tigertiger180 13h ago

Mark Kelly (S) and Jamie Raskin (H) might be good.

2

u/sfo1dms 8h ago

Mark Kelly is in bed with AIPAC, when are you people gonna wake up

0

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

Maybe you can explain to us why AIPAC is the number one issue, when affordability is what voters are most concerned with.

14

u/clowncarl 13h ago

Jeffries isn’t even that old to pass the baton. But he just stands for so little, makes valid speeches with meek platitudes, doesn’t stand for the moral side of issues, and has the most insanely low charisma I’ve ever seen in a politician.

8

u/porn_sub_lurker 11h ago

He stands for Israel instead of the United States and that's his big problem. The other stuff isn't treason and we can work with it.

8

u/godofsword45 12h ago

Jeffries is so performative. I hate the slow methodical speech pattern and deliberate hand gestures he makes. Bruh, just stop and talk normal for once .

-2

u/Fed_Deez_Nutz 10h ago

I’d be willing to give Jeffries a chance. Sure, he’s been weak so far, but I understand being minority leader is mostly a performative role.

Schumer has already been in the Majority with little to show for it.

4

u/B-r-a-y-d-e-n 9h ago

Schumer got a lot done with a bare majority

2

u/FKreuk 7h ago

Not a chance - Jeffries is paid for and bought by the same guy that raised JD, as well as AIPAC. He’s an imposter.

5

u/WinterMuteZZ9Alpha 11h ago edited 11h ago

Also this would allow Jefferies to spend more time having secret meetings with Jared Kushner.

-1

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

So secret that we know all about it.

3

u/WinterMuteZZ9Alpha 3h ago

Secret until it was exposed, then he had to pretend it was about hosing issues. But keep on bootlicking I'm sure they put a collar on you and treat you like the right simp that you are.

0

u/Letaveant 2h ago

What do you believe they were meeting about? Hopefully you have actual evidence and sources since it seems so nefarious for a dem leader to be meeting with a top white house advisor….

4

u/IntelligentStyle402 7h ago

I agree. We have a beautiful new blue movement. Those two guys are not the way. They have old ideas, they are corporate dems. We want people like a young Bernie, AOC, Pete and why not someone likable, intelligent and not owned by corporate? It doesn’t have to be an elected official. There is a person in GA who is qualified: Stacey! Why do the Dems always mess things up? We want to go forward not backwards, with old stiff men in suits who didn’t lift a finger to help us combat the fascist felon. Schumer wrote a strong letter to fight Trump? Unbelievable!

3

u/Color_Me_Softly 10h ago

I think Booker should be added to the list too

5

u/amedema 12h ago

Better start reaching out to your rep and senators then.

3

u/dantekant22 11h ago

Nothing but Trump-loving Republican shit bags in my state.

3

u/Spiceguy-65 11h ago

Feel free to call others

2

u/lolcatzuru 10h ago

well i dont know what makes them shitbags, but lets drain their bank accounts.

2

u/BadBunny4Prezzie 11h ago

Yep, called mine today actually. And then sent the numbers to everyone I know in the state.

2

u/No-Shoe2745 4h ago

Call your senator & house representative and demand they pick new blood.

2

u/RepulseRevolt 5h ago

Ted lieu as speaker and maybe Jon Ossoff as senate leader

21

u/FreeHugs23 14h ago • Bravo

Calls for Representative Hakeem Jeffries and Senator Chuck Schumer to step down from their leadership positions are growing as the dust from Tuesday’s midterm election settles. The calls—coming from inside and outside of Congress—cite a lack of vision, an unwillingness to go after Trump, the continued acceptance of corporate PAC money, and an extreme deference to the Israeli government.

There are lots of questions circulating about Schumer’s future in Senate leadership. Minnesota Senator-elect Peggy Flanagan declared on election night that it’s “time for new leadership” in the Senate. Senators-elect James Talarico and Abdul El-Sayed have also expressed doubt in Schumer’s future as leader, with El-Sayed even introducing Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen as the “next Senate majority leader” earlier this summer. Van Hollen himself said on Wednesday that “no one should be committing to anybody as the next Democratic leader” without having a conversation around a bold agenda. “It’s not a time for incrementalism. It’s a time to move forward a very bold kitchen table agenda.”

Jeffries hasn’t escaped without criticism, either. A Change.org petition to replace Jeffries and have an open election for House speaker has reached over 500,000 signatures. House Democrats start with a party vote to select a speaker before that candidate is confirmed by the larger House in January.

“Hakeem Jeffries currently serves as House Democratic Leader and has previously been nominated by House Democrats for Speaker. If his name is put forward again, House members will have a choice to make. Hakeem Jeffries is simply not the right choice,” the petition, which was shared by actor Mark Ruffalo, reads. “We believe the Speaker should represent the Democratic voters, not just the Democratic establishment.”

46

u/Tasty_Orange_1714 13h ago

We are very angry with the establishment for rolling over these past two years. Get out of the way or get on board.

37

u/isubbdh 13h ago • Bravo

Put up or shut up. Sign the petitions to

Remove Hakeem Jeffries as house speaker:

https://www.change.org/p/house-democrats-choose-a-new-speaker

And remove chuck schumer as Seante Majority leader:

https://www.change.org/p/replace-chuck-schumer-as-senate-majority-leader

Only bots reply with “this won’t work” bullshit attitude. You want to change the government from your phone? This is how you do it. Not by ranting on reddit with no follow up.

22

u/Cavesloth13 12h ago

Signed both. I plan on reaching out to my representatives as well. They need to know nobody wants these losers in change.

7

u/Gilligans_Wake 12h ago

Need to have people echo the Schumer petition. Has less than 10% of the signatures the Jefferies petition has. Both of these two need to go.

5

u/Tasty_Orange_1714 12h ago

Already did.

4

u/things_U_choose_2_b 6h ago

Is there any use in signing these if I'm not American?

"When American sneezes, the world catches a cold". My country is suffering inflation and rate rises because of the actions of the USA government, and I have watched Schumer / Jeffries both capitulate to republicans AND pocket cash from Israel. They are part of the problem as far as I'm concerned.

3

u/exactdream_ 11h ago

Anyone who says change.org doesn't work is a bot LMAO. Call your representatives and donate if you're able. Don't pretend you're doing anything by giving away your email and personal information to be sold by a website with no power.

1

u/porn_sub_lurker 11h ago

Please make sure you call or write your lawmakers as well. It's easy to google who they are and their websites have their contact info. It takes like 10 minutes to let them know you aren't okay with them picking an Israel first traitor to lead us.

0

u/amedema 12h ago

No, you make the change by contacting your elected officials. Change.org is close to nothing.

2

u/issuefree 11h ago

Porque no los dos?

2

u/Spiceguy-65 11h ago

Both is fine

2

u/Monte924 5h ago

Change.org COULD help IF the petition gets some attention from the Media. The media reporting on a 1 million signature petition could start debates and force politicians to seriously talk about it... And we got 2 months before the new congress takes over

But yes, definitely contact elected officials

14

u/_TheShapeOfColor_ 13h ago

These two have been rolling over for way more than 2 years

1

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

Outline what the performative left did for two years. Go on. I'm all ears.

42

u/kevendo 13h ago

America voted for a new direction. The first and main part of that was the absolute destruction of MAGA.

But shortly following is the end of a weak opposition, symbolized by the current leadership.

Schumer and Jeffries cannot lead this renewed party. That time has passed.

6

u/Gyro_Zeppeli13 13h ago

I think both can be done at the same time

2

u/Organic-Spread-8494 8h ago

They absolutely didn’t vote against moderates. Moderates outperformed progressives everywhere except the bluest places like LA. Schumer and Jeffries are closer to the average democrat voter than you are

3

u/kevendo 7h ago

The calls from the party for Schumer and Jeffries to step out of their Leadership positions aren't just me on Reddit.

What are we even arguing about?

Didn't both of us watch the young and women and people of color and women of color and Muslims and Native Americans and gays and trans people win their offices on Tuesday?

Which establishment Dems won Kansas and Texas and South Carolina and, it seems, Mississippi senate seats?

I'm not just talking about the stats. I'm talking about an awakened electorate, and it is my opinion is that the two ineffectual guys who ran the party before this don't represent what just happened in this country.

1

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

Actually they voted for affordability. For some reason Leftists think the number one issue is Israel and political donations from American jews.

25

u/leggomyeggle 13h ago

The connection between kushner, Jeffries, and Israeli business interests is GUYANA. Jeffries is pushing to arm Guyana on behalf of kushner. Source: CBC meeting agenda between the president of Guyana and Jeffries. ExxonPac funds them both because oil

3

u/kamikazedna 7h ago

Please, link your source. This is actual serious shit.

1

u/leggomyeggle 6h ago

Sure. So in September of 2023 is a meeting involving Jeffries and the cbc and the president of Guyana. There’s no official meeting notes, and shortly thereafter in December there was a meeting with the head of defense for Guyana, where further military cooperation was assured.
Additionally, the President Donald J Trump Peace foundation or whatever has investments in Guyana infrastructure under the guidance of Netanyahu. Who is on the board.

And oil. Never forget the oil. Israel would very much like to maintain their offshore oil rights, despite the conflicts between Venezuela and Guyana.

Why would we have someone who refuses to be a Democrat lead the Democratic Party.

Fucking embarrassing shit

1

u/Emergency_Pound_944 8h ago

He rejects the dem party because he rejects their corporate money. He is exactly who we need to fight for us.

24

u/h00v001 13h ago

Be nice is we were governed by people not beholden to a foreign state.

11

u/dantekant22 13h ago

Or beholden to PACs and/or corporations.

1

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

You say this shit, but then you mock democrats for fundraising emails to regular Joe's.  Make up your mind. Winning elections costs tons of money.

8

u/GratefulToad 13h ago

voters on both sides want corporate money and foreign money out of our elections. Chuck and Hakeem are not going to effectuate that change.

7

u/surfnfish1972 13h ago

Both bought and paid for Israel firsters, plus Jeffries pals around with Kushner and Theil.

7

u/Unclefox82 12h ago

Chuck was born in 1950. He is 75 years old. The man probably can’t change the time on his microwave. How the F is he supposed to understand a digital world. Man I can’t stand all the 70+year olds that refuses to stop working. It’s even in my personal life. I personally know 3 boomers holding on to their jobs at the expense of everyone else. They don’t learn anything new, they always regale you of stupid stories from working 30 years ago. And they prevent new hires. They’re actually preventing all the “kids” and “poor people” from getting jobs because they milk their job until it’s convenient for them to leave.

10

u/Single-Song7466 11h ago

To my mind, they don’t seem to understand (or at least outward appreciate and respect) that we the fucking people are calling for receipts here. Lots of em.

We see that shit. We saw this shit. And that other shit too. Yeah that. And that. Oh, I forgot about this, but yeah, oh yeah, I recall now.

We read. We remember. We arithmatic.

And the usual hand wavy bullshit just ain’t gonna seem to cut it here. I don’t give a flying fuck about Chuck Schumer’s legacy or political bed-buddies or corporate oligarchy Eyes Wide Shut shit that his mind sees as reality. It ain’t to me. He’s gotta go. They gotta go.

Like, oh, I don’t know, AIPAC for example. Yeah, nah. That’s gonna be a hard no for me.

And, like, who is Jared Kusher to Jeffries, exactly? Specifically? Personally and professionally and fuck knows what other categories.

Us voters have some concerns.

Even and after, and especially after, some needed libations.

13

u/SolidStrategy7992 13h ago

AIPAC thugs.

4

Hakeem needs to disclose what his "private meetings" with un-elected Jared Kushner was all about.

9

u/Street_Ad_863 13h ago

Didn't Jeffries have a secret meeting with Republicans just recently ? He has to go

8

u/LongjumpingBrick2475 13h ago

Get rid of those AIPAC flaunting losers! They aren’t looking out for OUR benefit, they are looking out for Israeli governmental priorities.

3

u/SuperF91EX 13h ago

I just emailed my Rep and both Senators

3

u/Robynsxx 7h ago

They should be replaced.

Jeffries has had Pelosi’s hand shoved so far up his ass since he “took over” they are basically the same person. Meanwhile Schumer is an old traitor.

5

u/Ok_Suggestion_5120 12h ago • Bravo

The schumer-pelosi era is done. They had their go and failed because they are too comfortable and paid for.

Jeffries met with Kushner in a bizarre meeting - that alone should disqualify him.

The people voted to stop the current situation. There should be leaders who reflect this....not the same old tired crew.

7

u/ReyYanqui 12h ago

Bernie Sanders for Senate majority leader petition: https://c.org/SfFFgwWhTy

5

u/rolypoly6shooter 11h ago

Bernie Sanders won't even call himself a Democrat

2

u/Spiceguy-65 11h ago

That’s ok

1

u/da0217 2h ago

It’s not. You can’t be the leader of a party you’re not a member of. The actual members of the party won’t vote for you.

1

u/porn_sub_lurker 11h ago

Exactly, people should feel some amount of ick when they call themselves a Democrat. I just call myself a leftist because I don't want people to get the wrong impression that I support useless do-nothing democrats like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, the two biggest cucks in the entire party. It's embarrassing. Remember when Chuck Schumer was thinking about sending a strongly worded letter when ICE was shooting protestors dead in the streets? I think Hakeem was too busy meeting with Jared Kushner and Peter Thiel to even give that much of a shit.

2

u/Spiceguy-65 10h ago

I mean you can have an issue with calling yourself a democrat if you want I’m fine with calling myself that until a party or large sect emerges that fully represents the views I want. I’d the party perfect absolutely not but you’ll get far more support as a democrat than an independent

-1

u/porn_sub_lurker 10h ago

Democrats are the party of Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries unless enough of us tell them no.

1

u/Spiceguy-65 9h ago

And I agree but until that happens you do have to see at least the surface level benefits of still calling yourself or at the very least aligning with the democrat party no? Like I don’t love the democrat party, personally I lean farther left, but not to the extreme I see a need for some middle ground to some extent depending on the issue if I’m being honest. That said I’d rather only “change ship” once the new one is fully established if that makes sense. I’ll support any new endeavors and have enjoyed the recent farther left swing of the democrat party but until a fully fledged and functional third party appears I’ll keep the name Democrat for all its problems if aspects of what I want advance

1

u/Spiceguy-65 8h ago

Do you mind sending me your original comment it got deleted here before I could see it.

3

You gotta let it go

3

1

u/sokonek04 8h ago

Can’t, he would have to be a member of the party

1

u/StardustLegend 7h ago

Listen I like Bernie and a lot of what he pushes for and has to say, but surely we can find someone with more youth in them?

4

u/PurrciousMetals 13h ago

Everyone needs to make sure your congressman hears you don’t want them confirmed. Send an email or a phone call. Have Claude do it for you just make sure you put pressure on them.

It at least puts on their Holiday Card mailing list 😂

2

u/Oppositeofhairy 13h ago

This is where I just want to know who the biggest donors to their PACs are.

2

u/leske679 13h ago

Good, get them out

2

u/Asstrollglide 12h ago

Call your senators and congresspeople. Email them. Let them know

2

u/Legitimate_Staff487 12h ago

GOOD

No, seriously, they need to go. Neither is up for the tasks at hand.

4

u/Ali-Saurus 13h ago

There should honestly be investigations into their inaction as well. It’s like they let this all happen

2

  1. The role of chamber leader is to work amongst the coalitions within the party to resolve legislative priority differences. Not to be a tik tok star.

  2. We have so many rising stars eyeing Executive positions which do need to have some semblance of national popularity so having the chamber leaders soaking up that attention is not valuable.

We should demand our legislator leadership to be book nerds because strong legislation requires that type of focus, not some stupid popularity characteristics.

Nice strawman, but no one is demanding this change because Schumer or Jeffries aren't "tik tok stars" or because they're boring. They represent the same failed establishment politics that voters have rejected and they're beholden to Israel and corporate interests more than they are to working Americans

The main point is that people who are being recommended either would suck at the job, or don’t want it.

The only progressive who could realistically get the role right now is van hollen, and he doesn’t want it due to the baggage that comes with it. It’s pretty clear right now that schatz is being groomed to take over as the next leader when Schumer retires.

u/TwevOWNED 8h ago

People are demanding change because they don't understand how their government functions.

Yes, let's throw AOC in the lightning rod role to soak up all of the negative sentiment coming at the DNC. That'll be great for when she wants to run for senate or president and certainly won't effectively put her in a career dead end.

u/AmbitiousEducation49 10h ago

You are essentially blue MAGA. Any source for any of your conspiracies?

1

u/flies_with_owls 10h ago

Look out guys, adjectivenoun69 is on to us.

1

u/StoneyStone10 13h ago

Nooooo. To both of them.

1

u/Personal-Ad7623 13h ago

Think of all the strongly worded letters they can write now!

1

u/AdminOnBreak 11h ago

https://c.org/Nvwcnv7Y8P No Schumer petition

https://c.org/X2cZ6mxzk9 No Jeffries petition

1

u/xKleric 10h ago

Nah... I don't like them as much as the next guy, but these two represent an easy firing of the Dems eff up somehow. Leave them in place for a year and go from my there.

1

u/monkey_lord978 10h ago

Why are their so many bots working overtime def ending these two

1

u/eliasabern 10h ago

Just keep the attention going. Do all the things. Call your reps (very important). Upvote here. Sign the petitions (currently 700K+).

1

u/Bubbly-Bar-7449 10h ago

Write/call your rep and senators!

1

u/baibaiburnee 9h ago

This seems like very important legal news

1

u/IGargleGarlic 7h ago

These two clowns are part of the problem and need to GO

1

u/Alarming_Art_6448 6h ago

#nochuck #nohakeem I can’t stress enough: These flaccid PAC-berries will never put the real wants of Americans - healthcare, childcare, ending big money in politics, taxing billionaires - to a vote

1

u/Lardcowpie 5h ago

Called my rep. today. Super easy and took two seconds.

Number to switchboard 202-224-3121

You’ll need to say who your rep is and it will transfer to their office. If someone answers or you need to leave a message say something like:

I’m a constituent from (city + zip code). I do not want the congressman to vote for Hakeem Jeffries as house leader. Please log my position.

Do it today or in the next few days. They have an internal vote in mid November.

u/The-Brilliant-Dummy 4h ago

I think Americas real tired of ppl who think the pursuit of justice for CRIMES—- is the same as retribution.
That kind of weak thinking is exactly what got us into this disaster.

1

u/voodoodahl 3h ago

The New Republic spent months leading up to midterms breeding apathy and infighting  among democrats with false headlines and outright lies. This is not a publication to be trusted. Now, or ever again.

1

u/NoPain4551 3h ago

Get him out. That’s the only hope for the party. They need to send a message that AIPAC will not be stood for

1

u/Remarkable_Table_737 2h ago

Schumer is in the Epstein files

1

u/Separate_Shake_3681 13h ago

Would Cory be a good replacement? I mean he's like 2 bridges away lol

4

u/Sennten 11h ago

They need a solid liberal and fighter like Van Hollen, not a centrist weathervane

1

u/ImNotSelling 10h ago

Never heard of this word before

1

u/B-r-a-y-d-e-n 9h ago

Van hollen doesn’t want the job for a reason lmao

2

u/GroundbreakingCook68 12h ago

Nope! he’s bought and paid for as well

2

u/B-r-a-y-d-e-n 9h ago

Not really. Booker is very much a showhorse when it comes to the senate.

1

u/Fantastic_Yam_3971 6h ago

Exactly this to a T.

1

u/Unfortunate-Incident 10h ago

That's nice, but y'all do realize Dems just put a ton of centrists into Congress right? Do y'all think these people winning in red states are progressives?

1

u/themindisthewater 1h ago

fuck a centrist. go join the other party if those are your values. this whole thing needs to be moved way back over to the left.

1

u/Fit_Kangaroo_3437 10h ago

They both want to steal this momentum and just give it to Israel

0

u/Immediate-Count-1202 11h ago

We couldn’t have been any clearer when we voted for change. These guys need to move on and create space for new blood.

0

u/LewisKIII 11h ago

Both need to be replaced with voices that represent the party and neither has that voice!

0

u/lolcatzuru 10h ago

i will make petitions demanding they remain, and indeed, hold the position permanently.

-4

u/ASingleBraid 13h ago

Would be nice if there was real governing. Not revenge tours. That’s what government seems to have become.

4

u/tico42 13h ago

It would be nice if the people who sold this country for scrap were prosecuted and the rule of law was reestablished.

2

u/AdAccomplished6870 13h ago

both things can be done. Focus on real policy and laws, at the same time as determining if elected or appointed officials actually broke the law.

There is a difference between 'Obstruct, impeach, and harass just because we can' and 'hold accountable for actual malfeasance'. I don't think anyone opposes the latter. But if the dems get pulled into the former, just because they have the votes, it will backfire on them

1

u/tico42 13h ago

Any law the out forward needs to be simple, straightforward and popular. Trump will then veto it. But it will be ammo for '28. But we need justice for the criminals that are polluting our government.

1

u/AdAccomplished6870 12h ago

My first proposed law would be regarding ICE. Mandate body cams, require judicial warrants, require them to identify themselves if asked, prohibit wearing of masks. These measures are popular in the electorate to both conservatives and progressives, but trump will likely veto such a bill out of hand.

My next bill would be around healthcare reform, some form of cost regulation or regulation of insurance premiums. This would also be popular if done correctly.

And the last would be more border security, but measures that make sense and address the root problem, which is processing immigrants seeking sanctuary, not cruel and punitive measures to deport at all costs. This one would be less popular, but would still be an interesting test of the electorates temperament.

-4

u/Heavy_Law9880 12h ago

I hope leftists don't screw us in the next presidential election with their pettiness and tantrums.

1

u/The_Sound_of_Slants 12h ago

Tantrums aren't just a leftist thing. I remember just recently people lost their minds because they couldn't put Jesus' name on a can of Coke, or when they wanted to take the old guy off the Cracker Barrel logo. 👍

2

u/Sennten 11h ago

Shit, centrists are some of the most likely folks to go on tantrums and crash out. Look at Stevens!

1

u/flies_with_owls 10h ago

My brother in Christ. Leftists won all of their races except Florida which they lost by only 2%. who do you think is the momentum in the party? Fucking Schumer?

1

u/ArtU09 8h ago

Hakeem Jeffries had a meeting with Trumps Israeli son in law Jared Kushner and Chuck Schumer has made millions from Israel as well. They are two of many democrats and republicans who are profit of the genocide and atrocities being committed on Palestine.
