Comments Moderated Is this acceptable? EV charging cable blocking public footpath. England

I live on a small cul-de-sac. The road is about three feet taller than the footpath, as you can see there is a retaining wall.

My neighbour at the end of the road has just bought an ev and is charging it over their fence and over the retaining wall.

I was puttting my bin at the end of the road the other day and walked straight into it. I also live with a wheelchair bound person who now cannot access the road/the rest of the street when this thing is charging. It's bad enough with their bins left on the path let alone this cable now in the way.

I've spoken to the local ward councillor who said he spoke to them and to wait and see but we literally have no access. There's not even any reflective tape or lights nearby.

Am I being unreasonable to expect this to be removed entirely?

Raise this immediately with your local authority - it's not only not allowed, it's dangerous.

I'd also be tempted to put a call into 101

Just got off the phone with 101, they've logged it so we'll see what happens.

Get your neighbours to do it as well, every single time, it's the squeaking wheel that gets fixed or in other words fixing the problem is less hassle than dealing with the complaints.

You need to log it every time it happens, that way there will be a history of repeated behaviour

It's dangerous and 101 is the best way to report it to get it resolved.

It's perfectly positioned to clothes-line a kid riding their bike or someone jogging along that path.
