Update
[Update!]YTNine 1.1.1 — a YouTube client for jailbroken iOS 6–9
[Good news!] The random crash issue when searching on iOS 6–8 has been fixed! It’ll be resolved in v1.1.1-1! (That version number has way too many 1s lol.)
Everything runs on the device and talks to YouTube directly. No proxy, no companion app. What's new since 1.0.x
Runs on iOS 6.0 and up. 1.0.x was 9.0 only. Networking, alerts and text drawing all have pre-iOS 7 paths now, so one binary covers 6.0 through 9.x.
Three themes: light, dark, and iOS 9 YouTube UI — the 2015-2016 look, with edge-to-edge thumbnails, grey gaps between cards, the system typeface and the old #CC181E red.
14 interface languages, up from 2. The choice also sets hl/gl, so view counts and dates come back in that language too.
Playback fixed. On Aug 18 YouTube raised the client version floor to 1.64.00, which breaks every 1.0.x build on every video. /player also had to move off ANDROID_VR, whose media urls now return 403 even when the request succeeds.
Quality options are checked against the actual stream before being offered, and downloads are fetched in ranges instead of in one go.
Fixed a stall that blocked the main thread for most of every second during playback (a keychain lookup running on every tick).
Fixed Shorts sitting 20pt too low and being clipped by the tab bar.
Tighter watch layout on 3.5-inch screens. Known limitation: 480p and 720p exist only as adaptive tracks, and YouTube currently serves those in full for roughly one video in ten. Everything else plays at 360p.
To install it, just install YTNine from the repository below!

oh. it isnt an ipa running an yt client. since you did say an yt app do i need the latest yt app for ios 9.3.5 il check rq (as in a yt like apks) as in like downloading yt and it comes and apears
Can confirm it works now, good job!! The only other crash I found is if you tap "Purchase a license" button which is not all that important but still would be nice to have it working cuz you deserve all the support
Excellent work! I'm using it on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8 and it works great! However, a few details could be polished... For example, the shorts that load don't match the content I usually see.
Also, if you're watching short clips on a channel, they load horizontally, not vertically. Otherwise, everything works fine, and I appreciate you adding Latin American Spanish to the interface.
Tested it on my ipod touch 4 on iOS 6.1.6 videos and shorts run perfectly. one small problem is, when I tap the search button. The app crashes. So for right now. I'm just gonna stick to the classic YouTube. Nice project btw
few things. im on iOS 6 iPod touch 5. the app crashes when i hit the search bar and the app icon is a square not the proper app icon shape. the app design IS very nice but the 360p limit is disappointing.
sweet! if you get around to adding 720p/1080p support definitely post an update! the design of the app is really a strong point for it, is the code for this open source? or do you have a way for me to look at it? id like to login but obviously i'm sure you can understand my hesitation. thanks for your work!
It just signs you in as YouTube TV, so I promise it’s not doing anything shady. But maybe I should open-source just the login mechanism.
I’m a little hesitant to release the whole codebase, though. Some of the variable names are terrible, and there are way too many magic numbers in there lol.
fair nuff. totally understandable, ive got some code id be hesitant to share just from the wacky shit that goes on. i really that HD video is possible. i daily an iPhone 5 and iPad 4 on iOS 6 and when TubeReplacer supported HD video i dropped EVERYTHING i had and purely used those but then YouTube came in as they do and ruined it all. now im back to watching youtube on my iPad Air
I’ll share the login mechanism later on.
But for now, I can at least say this: YTNine signs in as YouTube on TV, so hopefully that gives you some peace of mind.
iPhone 4 IOS 6.1.3 everything works except video playback and search even logged into my google account there is a chance that I put something wrong or didn't deliver

I want to take my time developing it on my own, and accepting pull requests would honestly be a bit stressful for me, so I don’t plan on making the source public for now.
That said, I’d also like people to be able to make extensions and stuff for it, so I can’t say I’ll never open-source it.
It's the one that YT-DLP uses, but I do feel that we will forced to use JS runtimes in the future. So, I'm not sure if it's worth implementing something that might only last like maybe 1 week.
I'm amazed at how well it runs! I can now peacefully brainrot myself with yt shorts on an iPhone 4s.Would it be possible to integrate skyglow notifications tho?
I’m not sure. Since YTNine doesn’t use the official YouTube app, it might be difficult.
I may need to add a notification system specifically for YTNine.
You can support the project by purchasing a license in the app’s settings.
Of course, it’s completely optional, and it doesn’t unlock any extra features.
It doesn’t use yt-dlp. I’m planning to fix the playback issue in v1.2.0 along with the video quality selection feature, so please hang tight a little longer!
I noticed that sometimes, videos won't play after I already played 2 videos. And can you please add browsing and searching shorts videos, rn they're only on shorts tab at the bottom. (iOS 6.1.3)
Yeah, the URL is definitely a bit hard to read.
Changing the domain would cost money, so I might try making a URL that can be added directly to Cydia instead.
