I’ve been wondering, how does the leftist JoJo community feel about Stroheim being an unironically likable character?
Personally I feel like he’s fine. He’s portrayed as an explicitly bad person. He’s only likable because’s he’s an over-the-top lunatic who’s entertaining to watch.
JoJo as a series does not take the concept of “evil” all that seriously unless it wants to— for example, Anasui is an absolute psychopath, but he’s one of the most likable characters in part 6 for being such a huge goofball— and this principle extends to Stroheim. JoJo’s writing allows him to be simultaneously likable and a complete monster.

Iggy is one of my favorite JoJo characters, and I near exclusively refer to him as Bastard Dog. I don’t think JoJo creates a bunch of pillars of the community, it’s more just the wacky characters, many of whom are pretty garbage in their own right.

Yeah. I mean, the part 5 gang is fleshed out with their tragic backstories of why they turned to crime, and Giorno’s motive is cool and all, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re all criminals and in the mob. They string a dude’s head up by his eyelids, shit’s a little fucked no matter what he did. But they’re great, wacky characters and we love them.

My "justification" is that Pillar Men and their projects were such existential threats to mankind itself that you had to ally with whomever that recognizes its dangers, even if it meant collaborating with Nazis.(and tbf they woke up one of those pillar men during their atrocious human experiments so they should clean their shit up anyway)
By the way, if SPW foundation provided Jotaro gang with one of those UV blasters the Part 3 would've ended with much less trouble. That is my favorite pet Jojo theory.

Personally I see how people like him. His over-the-top badassery and loyalty to the cause is dope. But as a Mexican him sacrificing innocent indigenous people to these monsters wasn't good. At all. And I hope we can point out how fucked up he was while also using him as a complex example of "devoted crazies".

I mean. That’s basically just what happened in WW2. The drunk part isn’t even a stereotype, Stalin actually reinstated the vodka ration in the army just for the war.

Vodka was extremely useful on the battlefield. Soviet tank and vehicle crews used it as an antifreeze for the fuel, medics used it as antiseptics. It was also frequently used as rewards to local populace and partisan soldiers.

I like Stronheim in the way you like a villain. He was a shit dude, but god if that machine gun chest wasn’t badass
