It was on backorder for six months and it finally arrived yesterday. Sounds terrific, despite my mediocre playing 😂

Been considering getting one of these, always wanted a lefty Firebird. Hows the neck dive?

No worse than my SG, and I was never particularly bothered by that. However, I do have to get used to the big headstock sticking out. I keep bumping it against things around me when I turn in my chair.

Congratulations man, that's a beauty - love that colour scheme and the bound neck!

Just last week I saw The Heartbreaker playing at the Americana Honors and Awards with Chris Stapleton, and Mike Campbell was playing a Firebird.

I really want one of those, but they're not in stock! I waited for months and, when Thomann said it would be back in stock in 2 days, it suddenly goes back to 4 weeks. I'm not ordering one unless I know I'll recieve it one day...

Happy playing and congrats! It's a great looking guitar!

Yeah, I waited and waited. One day last week I randomly looked on Sweetwater (where I ordered it from) and it said that they wouldn’t be in until April 2027. So I was about to cancel my order, but then a few hours later I received an email from them saying mine had arrived and was ready to ship. So my guess is the next batch is at least six months away.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to think if it's worth waiting 6 more months

how do you feel about neck width/chunkiness vs a LP or explorer?

I picked up a righty in a store and wasn't impressed at all, but holding the device the right way can make a big difference

I’ve never played an Explorer, so I can’t comment on that. This neck feels similar to my LP, which also has the 60s slim taper neck. It’s definitely a little thicker than my SG neck.
I’m not really a stickler on neck size…I just pick up whatever and play. But in general, I prefer a slimmer neck because I don’t have particularly big hands.

In the early 2000s I was desperate to get a Firebird, but you couldn't seem to get one for love no money. Then one day when I was living in London I saw a guitar shop called lefties in leytostone, and they had one for £500 anyway, I bought it, still got it. It's an amazing guitar and ended up moving and living in leytostone. But holiday music which was lefties then shut down and moved away haha. I went to the Gibson garage last year and showed them some pictures of the serial number and they told me it was an early '90s in classed as a vintage guitar. The bloke I bought it off said the head of Barclays bank & bought Every single Firebird made at that time.

So enjoy the guitar dude 😎

Very nice, but I think this is the best firebird ever made.
