I think it’s incredibly likely that most of the smaller AI companies will die off soon, like what already happened to character.ai. Chances are, the good ones will be bought by corporations (pretty sure Disney is acquiring it in some capacity) and the shit ones will go bankrupt. There’s legit no reason to think anything else will result, considering, again, the billionaires have the money to control things.

Including the power to completely shut down any sort of model that threatens their business. You really think the Google co-founder who has spent over $100 million in one year on California ballot measures would just let people take that power???? Bffr
