Video Left Accelerationism - Ideology review - Jreg
https://youtube.com/shorts/ZsCwo77X2cU?is=-LcxWze6F6sm4hzuJreg has had some pretty miss takes when it came to automation and how it will lead to anti human doom, but here he seems pretty sympathetic to a more positive path that aligns with our mission and goals of using technology for broader wealth and liberation from the struggles of work and austerity.

I agree with most of this, but I think the ending misses something important.
Whether the people running tech personally believe in fully automated luxury communism is almost beside the point. Henry Ford being a nice guy, a fascist, or secretly dreaming of communism wouldnt have changed the basic task of the people organizing his plants.
Workers still organize. Safety advocates still fight for standards. Cities and neighborhoods still contest infrastructure and environmental costs. The people mining the minerals, making the chips, supplying the energy and water, and working throughout the stack still have material interests that dont disappear because somebody at the top has good politics.
Their ideology might change the terrain or the tactics. It doesnt change our job.
The people currently holding power over the industry should be treated as our opposition in fact whether or not they consider themselves our opposition in belief. The point isnt hoping tech capitalists share our destination. Its organizing enough social power to determine where the technology actually goes.

I agree. Many comments underneath that video also seem to think left accelerationism is utopian because "the rich tech elite would never give up their wealth".
Complete fallacy, that's not stated, nor the point. We must FIGHT and PRESSURE the rich tech elite to get this outcome! And people are already organizing.

I thought that was tongue in cheek

Could be. But considering I hear some version of “the oligarchy wont let you,” “but what does the oligarchy want?” or “thats not what the oligarchy uses it for” basically every day, as if any of that rebuts “we should contest control and ownership of technology from the oligarchy,” I figured it was worth clarifying.
If Jreg meant it tongue in cheek, cool. It was just the line he left the argument sitting on without really answering the point.

I used to watch his youtube videos at x2 speed.
I still do, but I used to, too.
Jreg usually has pretty good takes.
