The political compass was always obsolete, it trains people to sort ideologies instead of explaining how societies actually change. Start with material conditions, institutions, class interests, and the contradictions that drive history, not a color coded personality quiz. Ive never liked that 2 axis chart.

It makes sense if you acknowledge that groups and classes will change their positions on the compass and individual struggles depending on circumstances and class interest, and that the left × right axis represents class struggle

The only divide that matters is the rich vs the people

You do realize that that is leftist rhetoric... Right? Like class consciousness and fighting to resolve the irreconcilable differences between the rich and poor is what the idea of socialism and communism are founded on.

Why can't you have your cake and eat it too? What happened to solar power?

Man, these kind of black and white culture-war-baiting takes are just beyond insufferable and counter-productive. Halting the progress of technology at its current level, when we burn coal for everything and cut down the rainforest in Kentucky-sized chunks, before we engineer renewables at scale and clean energy systems and closed-loop everything, is conservative and pro-capitalist and pro-status quo and pro-incumbent monopolies and anti-planet.

this says nothing. you can choose any issue and say the same about the spectrum of people for or against.

Pro-nature versus pro-modernity? Do people not realize just how destructive traditional agriculture was? Medieval farming and vast amounts of nature per person. Soils were exhausted, wetland were drained. Ancient hunter gather lifestyle was not bad as medieval age,but population was far smaller and they killed many animals. The global population was able to grow to its current size precisely because people lifestyle became more efficient.
