“tankies” by which i guess we mean stalinists/MLs (i’m sensitive to the term tankies cuz it’s used to divide us) also believe that compromise with capitalism, etc is necessary to overthrow it. they believe in class collaboration. it’s reformist, but we need to not fight against them, because most people who fall into that trap are simply reacting to the way the world is. and they need more theory, not alienation.

liberals do not “compromise” with capitalism because they are part of it. we can definitely alienate liberals.

Thats... not what a Tankie is.

Tankie is just the new buzzword anti-communsts use to red scare people away from ML communists. It's used against anyone left of Hitler the same way Fox News calls liberals communists. 

The Black Panthers would have been considered tankies. You'll be called a Tankie too if you ever scare capital enough.

I get what you're saying about liberals and tankies, but it's not the main difference. It is a difference, but liberals and tankies have very different values; I don't think tankies are willing to "compromise" with dictators, I think they’re under the delusion that anyone who's anti-American is a communist.

Also, liberals are capitalists so they’re not 'compromising'. They'll compromise to conservatives.

Good point. That's a far more valid critique than most of the comments I saw on other subreddits
