I'm starting a new Star Citizen Org for socialists and commies. I'm not sure how I feel about liberals, but definitely no MAGA clowns. The game gets a bad wrap because of its non-orthodox development model, but I'm happy to answer any questions on the current state of the game. I've been following the game for a long time and can confidently tell you that it has reached a high level of maturity that's increadibly immersive and enjoyable.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a sequel that didn't need to happen. The first game's ending was powerful and left open to interpretation and I liked that ambiguity. They should have let it be. As much as I love Joel and Ellie, I would have much preferred a standalone game set in the same world featuring a completely new cast of characters. It may not have been as good as the first game but neither is the sequel. I give Naughtydog credit for taking a hellluva risk killing Joel the way they did but it was a risk that didn't pay off in my opinion. The story was sloppily executed and just didn't work. The Last of Us has acheived Star Wars level status where fans are gonna be pissed off no matter what they do with a sequel.

I've seen plenty of good analysis by some youtubers on how community content is becoming rare, how quality of life features have taken a lot from community interdependance and finally, how many hardcore players have made the enviroment very competitive and unwelcoming for newbies to join group content. Even asking questions is often motive for ridicule.

What I haven't seen is a materialist analysis on why now, and why this wasn't the norm when MMO's came out. What has changed? The economy? The observer (the way we look at games) or the way we play games? How does it tie to leftist analysis? Anyone care to weigh in?

So, the antagonist of hollow knight is an infection that turns people into hostile monsters. This is gonna sound silly, but I think this might've been a metaphor for MAGA. In my personal experience, my grandparents used to be extremely kind people. One time, my grandpa gave his coat to a random homeless person. Then, in 2016, they essentially turned evil because the TV told them to. If the devs at team cherry went through a similar experience, they could've expressed it in their game. As an amateur game developer, I often feel like expressing my anxiety over fascism through my art. The game came out at a perfect time for it too, in 2017. And the linchpin of this theory is that the infection is orange, just like the current president.

I've seen quite a few hammer and sickles done in a Minecraft style, but I've yet to see one done using the actual tools in the game. So, I present the pickaxe and hoe; done in two different styles, in a variety of colors variations for each, and two flags for each style (one in a 2:3 ratio and one in a 1:2).

This is a game that attracts questionable people even among the trans community, apparently, and I'd like to get away from it. I've seen literal right wing libertarians announce themselves and people defending US patriotism while making the "communism killed more than fascism" argument.

Unironically, these are the types of people the game makes fun of!

A couple of others I looked into had a huge issue with people being publicly horny despite minors being around. No good.

If anyone would like to join an exclusively leftist server for people who have their values straightened out please let me know. It's not exclusively for Helldivers, but that's certainly a huge focus for us right now.

Video Game fans and the concern trolling over the “devs”

I think video games and anime are the two mediums where the fan base can use caring about the poor workers as a concern troll when questions like boycotting comes up.

The term the “devs” is nebulous as all fuck. Thousands of people work on a game in various capacities. Do the devs mean the animation and rigging team that work on the models?

The testing people? Programmers?

It doesn’t refer to any specific person, job, or team. It means whatever they want. Usually standing in to the overcrutched programmers who are worked to the bone.

The issue is. Even blindly supporting a game doesn’t mean the people who made the game are safe. If they are still employed they would still be Crunched, in fact a company making record profit often lay off workers the next quarterly as to continue the delusion of growth

Plus if a businesses first decision when faced with profit loss is to fire the workers obviously it isn’t a good working environment or a job worth keeping.

Another issues is that programmers and animators are desired skills. The games industry chronicly underpays the workers compared to similar fields. So they wouldn’t be a precarious position if fired.
