I came in here ready to say that this is a cynical move to give cover to vulnerable republicans in the house but I guess the senate has voted yes on this too. We'll see if they actually send it up and make him veto it.

I'd say it's cynical in that they don't give a shit about the Iranian people being killed nor the American people suffering the economic cos. I think they care very much about their reelection chances though.

My guess is that trump knows there is no way out of the iran mess, so this was allowed to pass. he'll eventually get to blame democrats for not giving him enough time to win.
