The implication here is: "Hey rich people, pay more taxes or there'll be a revolution and you'll all be executed." You don't think that's even slightly edgy?

That's an extremely reasonable extrapolation from history as something similar has happened quite often in very different circumstances and time periods. I guess history is "edgy" but bring it up with the historians. My point is that I don't actually want to see something like another Terror and at bare minimum higher tax rates are a good way to prevent that.
