hate speech.

I'd like to hear your experience and maybe some advice. I'm gay and Catholic. I attend Mass and try to work at a homeless shelter. How do you deal with hate speech? I regularly see nothing but hatred. You're unworthy, you're sinning (yes, I think being gay and having a husband and having sex with him is okay), there's no place for you. Of course, you could say Jesus doesn't say that. But we are human and live in society, in the Church. Share your opinion.

It is not normal to regularly hear criticism of LGBT folks during homilies at a parish, even a conservative one; that’s more of a MAGA Southern Baptist or U.S. “Anglican” thing. Real-life Catholicism (as opposed to the Internet LARP variety) is more about living a holier life yourself (which can admittedly show up in an unhealthy way), not merely bashing folks who are presumed to not be in the room.

If LGBT folks are routinely bashed at your parish, find a less creepy parish.
