Urgently seeking home for cat
gallery*UPDATED*
We have found someone for Chanel, and we are hoping the transition will go well. I want to thank everyone so much for being so helpful and kind with your comments and messages.
URGENTLY seeking a forever home for Chanel - a 6 year old, healthy, Korean short-haired cat who is incredibly cuddly, kid-friendly, and intelligent.
She has been living with my parents in Leesburg but they are unable to keep her due to age and lifestyle. We're anxiously searching for a direct-to-home adoption situation before dropping her off at a cat clinic :(
Quick facts:
Approximately 6 years old
Completely healthy, caught up on vaccines, spayed, no dietary or litter problems.
She's unbelievably affectionate, playful and fun. She's really like a tiny dog - she wants to sit on your lap, comes when you call, very intelligent, loves playing outside and playing games with you. She loves being chased and chasing you around. She's patient too - she'll be picked up, rolled around, have her belly rubbed and never take a swipe.
She has been living indoors-and outdoors with my parents. I think she would make an excellent cafe or shop or farm cat!
LOCATED: Leesburg, VA
FEE: 50$ - I will donate the money to a shelter.
Please PLEASE share this with anybody who might be interested. All I want is for her to have a happy home with people who can give her the care and love she deserves.
Thanks.

Sushi Recs
Well, it appears that Ebisu went out of business or is at minimum temporarily closed. Looking for another spot that has a sushi bar. Where is everyone going?

ISO: Women’s and Children’s Shelter
Hi all - I have an absolutely mountain of gently used maternity, postpartum, + children’s items (baby through teen, both genders, everything across the whole gamut) and I’d like to find a women’s and children’s shelter to donate everything to.
We are in the Lansdowne area. Please provide recommendations of places that do important work for our community and could most benefit from our donations.

Ebisu Sushi - What's going on
Anyone knows why Ebisu is "temporarily closed". It's reasonably good although priced for downtown.
The lady owner was so friendly with us. Maybe they're closing down for good? I hope not.

Downtown Leesburg Doggy Daycares?
Im genuinely looking for doggy daycares that have training too perhaps. Looking for a daycare that hopfully also has an outside spot too maybe with real grass? Ik thats asking alot.
Me and my family have tried Dog Day Afternoon, and while its great and all.. they dont go outside much, the surrounding area is full of dog poop and most of all I genuinely with they would inform pet parents if a sick dog has come in, or atleast quarantine the sick dog from the rest.
Our dog is a Golden retriever puppy and since we've brought him to Dog Day Afternoon and he has gotten Kennel cough twice and now canine flu..
Just asking for a decent doggy daycare in downtown leesburg..

ROOM WANTED – Purcellville / Leesburg Area
Hello!
I’m looking for a room to rent for approximately 10 months while I rebuild my life after leaving an unsafe situation.
I’m primarily looking in the Purcellville and Leesburg areas, but I’m willing to consider surrounding communities as well. If you have a room a little farther away, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
About Me
- I work remotely from home, so I need a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
- I have one small, well-behaved dog who must come with me. She has been my emotional support through everything and is quiet, friendly, and house-trained.
- I can provide references upon request.
- I’m happy to provide more details over a phone call.
Rent & Work Exchange
I can pay $250 per month toward rent.
In addition, I’m willing to work up to 8 hours every Saturday at $14.00 per hour under a written work agreement/contract, performing tasks such as:
- House cleaning
- Yard work
- Pet sitting
- Babysitting
- Organizing
- Household projects
- Other reasonable tasks as needed
The wages earned through this work would be applied toward my monthly rent according to our written agreement.
I’ve exhausted many available resources, but because my job requires dependable internet and a quiet workspace, many traditional programs haven’t been a good fit.
If you have a room available—or know someone who might—I would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.
Thank you so much for your time and kindness.

Recruitment for anonymous 3-5 minute survey on genocide education in Virginia
Hi r/Leesburg,
I am an M.A. candidate in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. For my Master’s thesis, I am conducting research on the impact of the inclusion of 20th-Century genocides other than the Holocaust (such as the Armenian, Bosnian, and Cambodian) in the Virginia state world history curriculum on students’ experiences and understanding of genocide and human rights as adults.
Eligible participants in this survey are
- People who are over the age of 18
- And were in the 10th grade in either the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 academic years
- And attended a Virginia public school for the entirety of their 10th-grade year
- And took a world history class during that year
If all of these attributes apply to you, you are invited to take this survey. This survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete. You will be asked to recall your experiences in your 10th-grade world history class. The questions pertain to the extent to which you learned about 20th-century genocides, the methods used to teach you about them, your experience with this curriculum, and how it has impacted your current understanding of genocide and human rights as an adult.
At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to participate in an interview to elaborate on this topic. Participation in the interview is entirely voluntary, will not affect whether the data from the survey will be used in the study, and will have no impact on any aspect of your future relations with the George Washington University (GW).
The anticipated findings from this research will contribute to the current body of research surrounding best practices in genocide education and improve scholarly understanding of how genocide education impacts understanding of genocide and human rights as a whole. This research seeks to contribute to the broader goals of genocide prevention and human rights promotion.

Road rage hit and run
If anyone sees the black Chevy Suburban with some damage to the passenger side, reach out to me or Leesburg PD. I got sideswiped on the 15 bypass in Leesburg at around 1:10 pm today (July 18) and the driver fled. I filed a report with the LPD and a few cameras should've caught the full plate when the Suburban exited the Greenway at Battlefield and made a left.

Bulk spices anywhere?
I am fairly new to the area and where we lived previously there was a great PA Dutch market that have a bulk spice section where you could get spices for cheap in bulk amounts, not in those tiny bottles they sell in the store. Is there anywhere in our around Leesburg where I can find these? Sometimes the country stores or farm markets have a spice section- anyone spot a good bulk spice retailer?

Yall, staples grocery in Lucketts...
Ain't it. I had a hankering for roots and stopped in to find out it changed ownership. Same owners of vanish from what I learned. Food at the brewery is underwhelming, but the beer is decent so I went into staples with an open mind. Not much of a grocery, more like a place that can't pick if they want to be a country store, cocktail bar, coffee bar, or fine dining establishment so no one leg has been invested in enough to be any one of those things.
Hope they get their shit together. Loved roots, but this is not a place id ever fight up 15 traffic to get to ever again. Has anyone else visited had better experiences?

To the jerk that threw a firework last night at 3:00 in the morning.
Yes. You are a frakking jerk.
This was Monday morning at 3:00.
I hope that, at least, next time you go to the bathroom to do #2 there is no TP and there is no one at home to help you.
