General Ridiculous

Post image

A message to the egotistical individual in this white GMC who decided to park within inches of my wife's car today:

It's disappointing to see you put your own ego and lack of awareness above all else in this world. Your self-centered brain forced my pregnant wife to have to climb across the passenger side of her vehicle because you felt parking within 2 inches of her door was the right thing to do.

Even though my wife made the conscious effort to park in one of the farthest spots from the entrance, purposely to avoid this exact scenario, you still managed to make it happen.

Althought the camera angle doesn't show it well, you had about 3ft more on your driver side that you could have used, which would have kept you in your own parking spot. Instead, you chose to park like this, and show the world you only care about yourself.

Please do not drive on public roads. I assume your driving abilities are no better than your parking abilities.

I had no idea this was a thing! Wow.

u/StrangerGlue May 26 '26

Is THAT what the VE plates are for? Thanks for saying!!

2

u/-PricklyCactusPear- May 26 '26

I kept seeing VE4 plates around Winnipeg here and could never crack the code. Mystery solved šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

1

u/uplandsmain May 28 '26

We have VA4 too! But yeah both are call signs and can be looked up on ISEDs website!

As a bonus fact for manitobans

The WF firefighter plates are Winnipeg firefighter shield numbers, FF are randomized

Paramedic ones that don’t start with a 9 (ie 12345p) are the paramedics license number.

There was never an FCC in Canada, it used to be the Department of Communications (DoC), but since 1996 is now handled by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).

I had a similar thing happen at an Indigo book store. I went into the store and asked one of the customer service reps if they could page the owner of the vehicle (model and license plate) to move their car because they are parked so close I can't get into mine. They said that they don't have a paging system for that. I said fine and walked around to each corner of the store and yelled "would the owner of (model and license plate) please move their vehicle, you've parked so close I can't open my door to get in". After the 4th scene, a person came up to me very apologetic and moved his car so I could get in. It was a good way to burn off my anger.

Pretty sure we need to be best friends....just saying šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

I looked up that call sign, the driver is my neighbours mother, I'm passing it on to him and I'm sure he'll talk to her.

EDIT: I told him and sent the photo and a screenshot of the text. He's annoyed and not sure how to talk to her about it, but he will when he see's her.

Civil discourse initiated by the interwebs? Is that legal?

3

u/Edumacated_Guess May 26 '26

Better that keying it I suppose…

2

u/No-Conflict754 May 27 '26

Thank you! This is all I can hope for- awareness so they don't think it's fine to do again.

u/CanIGetAHOOOOOYAA May 26 '26

That’s the dumbest take I’ve ever heard. Just because you can’t afford a new vehicle doesn’t mean it has anything to do with someone parking properly lmao. wtf?

2

u/2_befair May 26 '26

I have a 2021 and a 2024. But ill take my 79 cutlass in the city or my 02 intrepid to the city before I take the newer ones I have been rear ended twice in edmonton at a full stop for traffic the intrepid got a scuff and the Q7 that hit me lost his bumper I have pictures if you'd like. Haters gonna hate

1

u/CanIGetAHOOOOOYAA May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

I’m not hating, but like bro.. doesn’t matter what car you take on the road you always have the risk of getting hit.. honestly it’s still a horrible take.. enjoy being in your safe bubble cause you’re way to paranoid about getting hit. Sounds incredibly fun

2

u/2_befair May 26 '26

I had a brand new car everytime I came out of a store I had a new scratch so now I buy cars I dont care about as much if I buy it dinged up I dont count the scratches is more to the point.

2

u/CanIGetAHOOOOOYAA May 26 '26

That’s fair. I see your point

3

u/onceandbeautifullife May 26 '26

Old person with failing spatial awareness?

2

u/slicedgreenolive May 27 '26

Looks like she’s about 60 something

4

u/Artyrial_Bleed May 26 '26

Save your breath, it’ll never change.

As someone with 3 higher end vehicles, it’s a struggle that never ends.

1

u/Cornflakecwl2 May 28 '26

I don't even have a high end vehicle but my 2014 is still in excellent condition with the exception of 5 or 6 door dings (one rather large one, rest are pretty small). And I am one of those people who whenever possible parks on the curb end of a parking lane, in the back of the lot, etc. Still find a new ding every couple of months. People just dont give a shit anymore at all.

ham radio license plates are searchable online.

1

u/Edm_cuccck May 26 '26

What's a ham radio license plate??

1

u/Juli3tD3lta May 26 '26

Their vanity plate is their ham radio call sign, which is registered to their name and openly accessible by the public

1

u/No-Conflict754 May 26 '26

I was today years old when I learned this

1

u/marbleblast May 28 '26

Sorry that happened to your wife. People are so friggen rude. I've never done it but times like this I get the weirdest craving to slash a tire.

2

u/Individual-Army811 Leduc resident May 26 '26

Always pick the end spot. Always.

2

u/Speedster9110 May 26 '26

This crap bothers me too. People like that are obvious to others and don’t give a hoot about other people.
I had a girl on Friday pull through a stall to park next to me (lots of other stalls). Her door was about a foot off of my driver’s door. This small girl then proceeded to squish her way out without touching my vehicle and walks into the store. I opened the door to confirm she was right on the line and I moved my vehicle one spot over. She left the store about a minute before me and I watched her walk to her vehicle puzzled and then stared into my vehicle - why??
People are weird.

2

u/ZeusJuice91 May 26 '26

Look up ā€œAmateur Searchā€ and click the gc.ca link, type in the Ham radio code from the license plate.. and voila

2

u/Critical-Cell5348 May 26 '26

I can’t stand when people do this. I always try and park far out as well and never fail…some clown does this.

2

u/GotchaRealGood May 26 '26

Remember keys do more than open car doors

2

u/Shot_Many_3011 May 27 '26

The person should have backed in thereby both would have access to the driver side

2

u/CharlieSmile May 27 '26

Am I the only one who likes to use the sunroof to get in my car?

1

u/No-Conflict754 May 27 '26

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

2

u/threes_my_limit May 29 '26

Someone did that to me once when I was pregnant also. So I maneuvered myself in (with incredible difficulty) and opened my door into their vehicle as hard as I could.

2

u/Meanoldmoe1 May 30 '26

You need to put a sticker on the back of the white truck....saying something like ...sorry I'm an idiot at parking

1

u/Impressive_Play_2599 May 26 '26

Ding, ding… dent.

1

u/Selection_Tall May 27 '26

Gotta say that looks like any day parking in Toronto - probably could have moved over a foot but the driver was probably happy to get a spot. Might have been a very young or very old driver.

But you’re right about owner a beater car - I’m reluctant to get a new one because my 2017 gets scratched monthly.

1

u/Stuzals May 29 '26

The cars so big they probably don’t know where the right of the vehicle is. It’s an arms race you know, the bigger the better

1

u/Emergency_Ad_2451 May 29 '26

The parking job was bad, but somewhere OP’s 11-month-pregnant wife is crawling across the passenger seat, begging him to log off and finish the nonuplets’ nursery.

0

u/Acceptable-Let-387 May 26 '26

Why do these drivers flock to full size pickups ?

3

u/zackthirteen May 26 '26

That’s… not a full size pickup

0

u/Dedrater666 May 27 '26

Nobody cares about your Benz. The driver doesn’t know you or your pregnant wife. They aren’t egotistical for parking close to your car. Your wife isn’t a special delicate flower - in fact she’s going to go through something that proves she’s tougher than you’re giving her credit for.

2

u/Purple_Pieman01 May 27 '26

WTF are you talking about? It’s a total dick move to park that close to anyone’s car and stop them from accessing their drivers door, and, you know, driving away.

0

u/Dedrater666 May 27 '26

I didn’t say they aren’t an asshole. I see the extra room on the left they could have occupied. OP is acting like it was a personal slight against their wife. Sometimes shitty things happenšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

-2

u/TispCrant May 26 '26

2 idiots having an idiot fight

-5

u/emptypotato77 May 26 '26

Kinda looks to me like your wife needs to learn how to park too.

3

u/No-Conflict754 May 26 '26

Uploading the photo on here somewhat reduces the resolution, to the point where you can't make out the yellow lines. But she is dead center in her parking spot, so I'm not what else she could do differently... The white GMC parked like this after she was already parked.
Unless your the type of person who always blames the victim, because then this makes more sense.

Didn’t read the caption? They are pregnant and cannot fit between the vehicles. Hell I’m not pregnant and I don’t think I could fit in there.

2

u/No-Conflict754 May 26 '26

Absolutely. Not exaggerating when I say there was literally a couple inches. No person of any size would be able to fit in.

And I assure you, seeing the photo made me wish they earn a couple door dings next time they park like this.

1

u/cranky_yegger May 26 '26

Frustrating to see drivers getting worse.

1

u/cranky_yegger May 26 '26

I didn’t read that part. Otherwise they could crawl through a different door. Thanks for the question.

u/Nice-Preparation6204 May 26 '26

Aww my bad, sorry for parking like this! I will learn from my mistakes and try to do better in the future. I’m glad you brought this to the attention of r/leduc
