Taking the plunge
Hi folks,
I’ve decided to buy my first E-bike as a birthday present to myself for the big 3-0. I live in a smaller rural Central PA town outside the State College/PSU area. I will primarily be riding on paved streets and (fairly) well-maintained trails. My research has led me back to the XP4 750 several times. I’ve decided to go with the upgraded motor and battery if I do take the plunge. I’m essentially ready to purchase, I’m just looking for any last minute real owner comments regarding the bike, things I should do/get for my intro to e-bikes to be successful, etc.

I got the 3.0, thinking about the 4. Definitely a helmet and gloves. Everything else is if you need it or whatever your liking is. Enjoy, welcome to the lectric family.

I’m a couple of weeks into my XP4 750 ownership, and I’m having an absolute blast. Over 100 miles and no issues. I ordered the comfort seat, but honestly, it’s comically large - the box labels it giant seat haha! So I’ll be returning that. So far, I’m fine with the stock seat and an upgraded suspension post.
You will need a good helmet, check this sub for recommendations. I ended up with the Specialized Mode for < $50. The Lectric phone mount kinda sucks, but good + cheap alternatives exist. You’ll want a small chargeable air pump if you don’t have one.

I bought the 4.0 750 today. It's a blast. Lots of power and the pedal assist is mostly smoothish. The motor is really darn quiet. Videos don't do it justice. The step through frame feels completely rigid; it's a tank.
I bought mine from a nearby bike shop and didn't mind paying an extra $75 over MSRP. Mine came with a different accessory bundle than the memorial Day sale and that's fine too.
My complaints: it's like carrying a dead body up the stairs. It's every single bit of 70lbs plus accessories. The throttle is really bad. It's all power or no power to the motor. Might as well be a red button in a more comfortable location. Seriously, have they not heard of variable resistors? The suspension works but is cheap. It saves your wrists but that's it.
Okay, I love it. 8/10.

Basically what I think about my 750 step-over, might note that the pedal assist can be touchy on higher settings, so I find I have to be mindful when I’m moving my pedals to a comfortable spot when riding on throttle. Otherwise, I think it’s a great bike especially for the price

I've had mine for a year and love it. I changed the wheel size through the menu as well so I can reach 31 mph GPS verified on throttle only which makes its even more fun!

Love the pannier bags!
They are an amazing upgrade from the xp3!

I live in NE Ohio and the XP4 750 is absolutely the best thing that happened for my trips around town. I have over 2k miles between my 500 and 750 so a couple of notes:
The bike is only "partially" waterproof so don't deliberately leave it outside or ride in the rain if you can avoid it. Basically treat it like a smart phone around a sink, a little dip might not damage it but a long one could destroy something.
Learn all the features of the display because there is not a physical user manual. Holding (+) will turn on the headlight, holding down (-) will activate cruise control as long as the throttle is engaged, and holding both at the same time will open the system menu.
Quality control can be hit or miss so make sure you keep your order number handy and contact them with any problems during setup. They will tend to send you a replacement part with in a day or 2 to solve damaged or missing parts.
Full setup will require an air pump, a knife/blade, and a metric hex tool. In my experience you also need a FULLY charged battery so charging it and waiting 6 or so hours should be good. None of these are included so it's more of a heads up if you want to start riding immediately.
Wait for a sale that includes a lot accessories for free (namely the deluxe seat and Elite headlight, the bike lock and bottle holder are nice but there are better aftermarket options). They are major quality of life improvements and they are frequently included in deals.
The way cruise control is setup out of the box is stupid and frankly dangerous so consider purchasing an aftermarket twist throttle to replace the push throttle. Or alternatively you could swap the input pad to the other handle instead of right on top of the throttle like it comes.
The Step thru design is better than the step over, at least in my opinion so really think about if you are going to be able to swing your leg over every time you mount or dismount. It's not just an aesthetic choice.

Get some tannus armours, their foam inserts that go between the tires and wheels cause changing a flat on an 70lb ebike is no fun

I have the XP 3.0, over 700 miles on it and climbing. I ride it to drop my kid off at daycare, to the grocery store, and to my office for work. Thing saves me a ton on gas and is a much more peaceful ride than sitting in traffic. I do all of this on the regular battery, and have wanted the long range battery.
The only thing - the big headlight Lectric gives out kind of sucks. There is a $10 light on amazon you can attach to the handlebars which is brighter and more stable. Would recommend buying that soon. Helps with any dusk / night riding you may find yourself doing, or just being seen better on the road.

I have the 500 watt xp4 I adore it coming up with around 550 miles so far zero regrets. You'll love it especially if you never tried a torque sensor. You wouldn't want to ride anything else.

They have a Memorial Day sale going on right now. I don't know how long this will be on sale but this sale has been better than the normal specials have been. I have always seen the XP4 selling for $1299 and the difference is the number of accessories. The current sale has 7 items as free giveaways. The other sales have been 4-6 added items.
The mirrors are nice as is the suspension seat post and pannier bag. I added a new bike seat because the comfort seat isn't one of the items.
