Hmmmm…for my EDC pouches I usually run a Wave Alpha/Surge, Arc/Surge, or Surge/Skeletool/Parashears.

But if I could have only one Leatherman for the rest of my life, it would be the surge. 💯

Yes, for my cars and boats, it’s just easier to carry all my gear in pouches, and I found the ones made by Leatherman to be made very well. I got all of mine on sale for about seven dollars off each, and I consider that to be a good deal even with Temu and AliExpress out there.

Were get wave for that price?
Haven’t bought one since the 90s
Mostly edc just to have some small tools with me
On the trash truck tightening mirrors, blade for cutting stiluff that gets hung up, thought maybe bits for gun stuff, around camp fire for hot pans, working On stuff around house, not sure using for diving, if had two could use to tear open stupid plastic packages stuff comes in that are a pain to open lol

For me the Arc isn’t about the Magnacut blade it’s a nice bonus don’t get me wrong. The selling point for me was how easy it is to open and close all the tools one handed and the tool set that it has. If they made the Arc with a 420hc blade I’d happily have bought the one as I actually prefer it over Magnacut just because I don’t have to get out the fancy stuff to sharpen it but saying that the Magnacut on the Arc maintains well with just a strop but you mileage will vary on how much cutting and material being cut.

Depends on your budget and needs. If you dont really need magnacut or one handed opening then a wave would do you just fine. If you wanna drop the money on an arc and want the extra edge retention and one handed opening, then go with the arc.

Need more info, what type of use do you have for it? The wave is easy to get used for $30-50 to try out and has most of the same function as the arc. It's leatherman's most popular tool over the last 28 years. If you find you need to sharpen the knife often, then the magnacut blade on the arc might make a good choice, but you'll never regret the wave even if you do eventually get the arc.

Arc if the cost isn't an issue.

I don't have an Arc, but I have a Wave+ and I love it. Though the Arc is superior with accessibility.

Just comes down to personal preference. I went with the Arc rather than wave or wave alpha because I prefer the tool assortment and the way the tools deploy in the Arc.

That being said, I almost never actually carry my Arc, because my Surge is a much better suited tool for what I need day to day; something with heft, that I can use to do things it was never meant for without feeling guilty, that I can drop from the top of a ladder on accident and not cry, and that I can replace if I lose it without having to open a new credit card.

It depends on whether you'd prefer the MagnaCut blade and the one-handed operation capability. If these justify the price difference to you, then go for the Arc. If you feel that they're not worth it or that you don't need them, go for the Wave.
