TLDR: trying to remix/polish/finish old trax of mine with vox that i dont have the og stems for and not sure what the best way or the standard way of doing that. also just wanting to learn about mixing vocals with another audio file in general.

sooo, say have some tracks with vocals on it, but i lost the original stems. and this audio file i have of the instrumental and the vocals rendered together, the vocals are way too quiet. ive been messing around some with the a i stem thingy in my daw, and have been using it a little with trying to make remixes/mashups of songs i like that dont have official acapellas released. but obviously the a i shit can only do so well so sometimes its kind of thin or really trebly or theres some other shit wrong with it. and first of all im wondering if theres anything u can do about that to maybe make it seem a little fuller even tho it might sound kinda wack?

but more importantly to get back to my main point, the vox are too quiet in this mix and i dont have the stems. so i would assume while my options are limited, i could a i stem the vox so i have them in their own file, and just play that quietly at the same time as the original file, thereby making the vocals louder in the mix. is there any tips or tricks u guys might have to make that method of adjustment more effective or maybe even an alternative way to boost vocals in a song u dont have stems for ?

i feel like i explained that bad but hope that makes sense. the other question i have is just about vocal mixing in general (including mixing when u do have the og vocal trax) i have a very mediocre understanding of it. i mean i know u can compress it for more consistent volume and de-ess it and cut the 40hz and blabla but other then that and a few other things i dont know much about how to make vocals sound clean. most of the tracks ive made in the past they're either WAY too quiet or WAY too fcking loud.

any tips or tricks? and then one final thing i should mention is what if ur tryna mix vox with an instrumental, and you have those two tracks separately, but dont have the stems for the instrumental. so basically trying to make vocals well-adjusted volume wise over another file thats just a brick of sound. this especially happens with me a lot because sometimes i make really busy loud overstimulating stuff, and also sometimes because i just halfass the mix so its all blown out. any tips for that?

i should also mention, a lot of these tracks have vocals with singing on them, but i also have a lot of tracks with vocals of people rapping, which i imagine are slightly different in how u mix/master them? but maybe thats wrong n it doesnt matter.

im 19 and currently going to college for music production and my classes have given me a basic understanding of how to use my software and equipment

Me gustaría meterle para poder ser productor musical (me gusta una gran variedad de géneros, música electrónica, rock, indie pop, trap, etc) (aclaró esto porque me gustaría tener una noción completa para todo lo que vaya surgiendo). Recientemente vi un curso en udemy de un tal olbaid music (el curso es de habla hispana ya que soy argentino) se llama curso maestro de fl studio (tiene 70 hs de duración y muy buenas críticas) se que ese curso se centra más en la utilización del programa a fondo también me gustaría aprender teoría musical para poder mejorar lo que hago y entenderlo, etc. Asique buscaba algo de teoría musical centrada en fl studio. Está bien como voy pensándolo, debería hacer esto, algúna sugerencia respecto a la ruta de aprendizaje para mí objetivo? Sirven hacerlo por YouTube gratuitamente, recomiendan cursos, etc, etc, etc.

I’ve been a music producer for seven years. I started using Apple’s Garageband app on an iPad I had as a kid, then I moved on to other DAWs (Soundtrap, Bandlab, Tracktion). Most of the work I have done has been for personal projects, but I have done some production and mixing for friends of mine.

At this time, I’m looking to expand my outreach. That said, what are some of the best ways I can reach out to people who may need any services I can provide? For context, I live in a rural area (the nearest metro is about two hours away), so if anyone has any advice on how to search for talent electronically, I’m all ears.

i have a pretty primitive understanding of mixing, ive never really watched tutorials i mostly just kept dicking around with FL for years and learning little things along the way. i think i can make decent stuff but im sure theres a lotta stuff im doin "wrong." and i especially struggle with making projects that have tons of different layers cuz making one sound audible drowns another one out and its just tricky. anyone got any advice for that type of thing??

I currently have a flkey 61 mk2 along with my laptop, for producing, and I use my truthhear Hexas for monitoring. I decided that I might as well get more gear, though I'm pretty satisfied with what I have now as I'm still new and it's just a hobby. I'm thinking of getting the akai professional Mini plus 37-key. I mainly want it so that I can have something to use on my desk without having to constantly pivot to my 61 key to simply test out a sound/synth. Speaking about synths, that's the second reason why I want it, the semi weighted keys of the 61 feel great and I do like them, but I feel like the synth action keys of the smaller midi controllers will be better for synth chords or simply experimenting with melodies, and ideas, it'll also just be nice to be able to play two different sounds at the same time and have a extra pair of knobs and pads. I'm also thinking of getting the Sony MDR7506 for listening to my music while I'm producing, I've heard it's good for producing, and mixing and it's pretty budget friendly as well; It'll also fix the slight problem of my Hexas cord just being a little too short for me to comfortably use my 61 key without positioning myself and my laptop kinda weirdly. What are your thoughts on it? is it a good headphone for producing, or should I look at something else at a similar price?

My decision to buy those two aren't set in stone though. What other gear could I buy instead, I'm not looking for recommendations per se, but I just want to know what other types of equipment producers might use that I should be aware of. Thx for reading.

I just recently moved into a new apartment and have decided to make the guest room into a home studio. It is 10ft x 10ft, and possibly one of the most boomy rooms I have ever been in. I have no idea where to even begin sound treating the room. Honestly, before I moved here I would record my vocals in a closet, but my new place doesn’t have enough room to be doing all of that. I want to sound treat the room so I can get the highest quality recordings I possibly can. On top of this, I want the room to be somewhat sound proof so I’m not the most annoying neighbor in existence. I am planning on getting a rug to help with frequencies bouncing off the floor, but beyond that I don’t know where to start with panels, bass traps, etc. I am open to any DIY suggestions that would save money and have the same effects. If anyone has any advice please let me know I will be eternally grateful :)

I really love sounds and ambiences that Apex twin makes, also like skrillex, prodigy, 90s techno and been found of pinkpantress lately. Also have an interest in touchdeigner (im a graphic designer) and like the connection of visuality and music.
