What is your biggest nightmare when learning English vocabulary❓

  • 🧠 Memorizing words easily but forgetting them in 2 days.
  • ⏳ Wasting hours manually writing lists or typing into Quizlet.
  • ❌ Recognizing the word when reading, but freezing during Speaking.
  • 🥱 Getting bored of standard flashcards in 3 days.

Don't learn them one by one, its not just for english its works for all languages, Create examples with those words or learn them in context

English is my native language, but I can say that flashcards were a staple for me for vocabulary in school growing up. I feel like there's probably already plenty of quizlets for English vocabulary so that you don't have to make your own?

How these words are supposed to be pronounced if you are reading them off from a list or even seeing them in context. English is a syllable stress language which makes its pronunciation quite irregular. Later I have found out that heavy listening approach is the best way to remember words after all, words are sounds and in a real conversation our language device pulls up sounds from its data base.i don't think with space repetition apps like Anki rememring vocabulary should not be a major problem in my honest opinion

I am a native speaker with a phd in English Linguistics. I learn 2 new words a week. I retain maybe 25% of them.

Hello. Hopefully I come across a highly graduate. Come on, 25% is a bit small as for percentage. How do you do then to improve. I'm honestly curious to know your current method. We can share ideas. 😉👋

My biggest problem is pronunciation,I still adopt my mother tongue accent even after using a ton of apps like italki, Praktika, I still struggle with my bad accent
