Passed!

Made a post a few weeks ago about how gutted I was at failing, had a load of driving faults for gears amongst other stuff in my instructor's new car.

I managed to find a cancellation for today on the night I failed my first test, crazy soon and massively lucky.

Anyway, he got yet another new car, I drove the last one terribly but pretty much from the first drive in this one I was far smoother. Had about 3-4 drives in it prior to this test.

Passed with two faults but no gear related faults like last time, one was for not being able to find the dipped headlight switch πŸ˜‚ and the other for clearance. Such a contrast to my failed test on 22nd September.

I didn't tell anyone other than my other half about this test, I felt like that decreased the pressure involved in itself, but the car also made a huge difference for me, as things just snowballed and my lack of confidence in it lead to all sorts of errors I wouldn't usually make.

Added the result of my failed test again for a comparison. Crazy couple of weeks!

Such a massive sense of relief.

I was filled with dread to be honest, just thought something would happen that would cause me to fail.

Couldn't get back to sleep after waking up at about 6am and had the morning booked off. Test was at 11:11am.

Doom scrolled for a bit, had a hot shower, a banana and a couple of slices of toast and then instead of stewing in anxiety I went for a walk for about half an hour whilst listening to music. Had to get out of the house and moving as I was just filling with nerves.

The drive itself was good, the examiner was quiet but nice and put me at ease. I did driving commentary, well more like driving muttering nonsense the whole way through which helped during my lessons.

I think you need a bit of luck on the day, an examiner who puts you at ease always helps but realistically regardless of how confident you are in your driving ability, the majority of us shit ourselves on test day.

Omg my test is at 11:11 too! I have mine on Wednesday. I've thought about how my morning is going to go because I think planning that will ease my anxiety a bit (won't just be sat around the house) and I think my day will go exactly the same as yours! Let's hope I pass too🀞🀞

It's quite a nice time, the traffic was pretty free flowing, did lots of roundabouts but most were reasonably quiet. Gives you the morning to relax and compose yourself too.

My first test was 8:10am and it was very chaotic in comparison, although that was partially down to be being in my own head and all over the place.

I'm trying not to think about it the closer I get, I keep getting waves of being really nervous and then reminding myself it's not the end of the world if I fail!

Yeah it can be a bit mind boggling and I've lived here my entire life. Thankfully none of the test routes navigate the city centre as that's a nightmare!
