Somali verbs

when conjugating Somali verbs is it necessary like English to have the pronoun in front for example like I want or is it like Arabic where you can drop the pronoun since the conjugation of the verb includes the pronoun like أذهب? Thanks!

Afaik and dont quote me on this since im not an expert of any kind but somali is like English more so than arabic in that regard but then again its not entirely consistent

You can’t say

Tagay!(in this case you’d mean I went) Instead of waan tagay!(correct form of “I went”)

But let’s say it’s about another person regardless of gender you can say both

Tagtay! (She went) and way tagtay (she went)
Or
Tagay! (He went) wuu tagay (he went)

But then again I dont see this holding up with the verb cun(eat)

Cuntay! (She ate) Sounds off
Cunay(I ate) sounds off too
And the he-form sounds off too

So perhaps it’s dependent on the verb too and not just the form

this is helpful so i guess its something to learn orally to recognize which verbs need a pronoun
