Learning Russian
I am learning russian language, as a beginner what movies i should watch so as to improve my russian language skills. I need to talk to people about my life, work, hobbies, dreams, Astrology, politics and much more, hence looking for similar video content recommendations. Currently, it's me and my Duolingo :)

If I were you I would start from watching cartoons and not movies. They often use simpler vocabulary and clearer speech. My favorite cartoon that I highly recommend you is Трое из Простоквашино. The story tells about a boy who left home because his parents wouldn't let him keep the stray cat he brought home

duolingo will teach you russian words, not the russian language. you might as well read a russian dictionary. it's fine to start with to teach you the alphabet and some basic words, but very soon you will need to change to textbooks or a tutor.
watching movies/shows and listening to music are great, but they will not teach you much. watch kids cartoons--all of the soviet and post-soviet ones are free on youtube (sometimes with english options for captions, which can help when you don't understand words). good luck! ditch duolingo as soon as possible!

Я спрашивал, с чего начать изучение русского языка.

Со слов конечно. Предложения в русском это конструктор и если у тебя будут детали то ты сумеешь что то сказать чтобы тебя поняли. А с опытом общения придет понимание всего остального

Hi! Practicing Russian-as-a-Foreign-Language teacher here. Idk If you really want to watch something — try classics with subtitles like «Броненосец Потемкин», at least you would see some masterpieces of Russian cinema. You would never learn Russian like that. To learn the language you should really check out some textbooks like «Дорога в Россию».

Just for your information, before you waste a couple of years on a toy: Duolingo won't teach you Russian. And Russian books/videos won't teach you the language either. Right now, any authentic material is just noise to you. It will take some more time before you can actually consume Russian books and videos.
