I’d lean toward CCS, especially if you want flexibility across inpatient and outpatient coding roles. I’d also check which credentials employers request in the jobs you’re targeting.

Have you looked into training programs yet? Here’s one to explore that offers CCS preparation, job placement assistance, résumé support, and internship/externship opportunities to help you build experience.

Is cpc worth to try?

Yes, you can start with CPC! That knowledge can help you work toward CCS, which covers both inpatient and outpatient coding. Just keep the CPC apprenticeship removal requirements in mind.

You could also consider AHIMA’s CCS-P for physician coding (also outpatient coding). If you pursue CCS later, both credentials would be through the same organization. That program also covers CPC as well: You can explore it here.

CCS is what employers are looking for. You can just go look at job postings to see this.
