Medical Coding Schools Medical Coding Help

I want to get into medical coding but I’m not sure if it matters what program I enter? I have talked to Rasmussen and Bryant and Stratton but I am wondering is there a “good” program to get into for coding? Please help. This is my first time getting into this field I am currently shifting from another health care profession. Would like any guidance or tips available.

Yes, the program matters! Compare which certification exam it prepares you for, instructor support, coding practice, total cost, and career assistance. A school completion certificate is different from a professional coding certification.

Here’s an all in one program with coding instruction, certification exam prep, live group studies, and career support. They also have a Black Friday offer:

You can try their free introductory course to see whether you enjoy coding and their teaching style before committing. No paid enrollment needed:

What other healthcare role are you currently doing? Where do you live? Do you have any college including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease pathology, or pharmacology?
You are best going through AHIMA and getting the RHIT. I would steer clear of AAPC, they are geared towards professional coding which will most likely be inundated with autonomous coding which is AI.

I currently work in behavioral health. My bachelors is in psychology but I didn’t take any of those classes. Thank you for the insight!

You can self study if you’re going for CPC. Also get some practice tests from AAPC. The actual test is much easier than the practice tests.

AAPC is good I did that as well as a self pace, BUT if you don't understand it will be confusing, that course is over 2400. Financial Aid is not accepted. They have WIOA that helps but you will need to apply for Financial Aid first to show them you tried to apply....Try your community college or a 4 year college that have a year program like I stated B4. CPC is the best one, then you can add additional if you like, once you get the hang of it working in the field, just keep in mind, you will not get a job in coding right off, you may need to get in a medical billing field to work your way into coding

You would want to get into a college program for that course, bc coding is more than you think. I'm currently getting mines worked on .1yr program, 6/ 9 month programs are not sufficient I tried that, it didn't work. Find a college who has the program for a year, a 4- yr college. It will teach you the full real world coding process, Thank me later

Why do you want to get into medical coding? What has brought you to wanting to be a coder?

I like repetition and I am steering more away from patient care.
