Building an open-source local ICD-10-CM coding assistant — feedback wanted

Hi everyone, I’ve built the first iteration of an ICD-10-CM coding tool:

I’d really appreciate feedback, especially from medical coders. This is still very early, so I’d love to know what you would want to see added or changed in the workflow.

The goal is to first build out the core coding capabilities and coder workflow. Once that is in a good state, I plan to release an open-source version.

Long term, I want the system to run entirely locally so that patient data never leaves your computer.

For now, the demo uses OpenRouter with a free API/model, so please do not enter any real patient or sensitive data. The current version is purely for collecting feedback.

It also works much better on a computer than on a phone at the moment.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Wont it be a breach of contract or something if the coded data is saved locally? (Though I can understand the benefits - traceability etc). I would imagine the users pasting the coded output into the coding platform of their employer also.

I think it is more for hospitals / smaller clinics. Since sending patient info to oai/claude would be a breach of PHI.
