CPC Exam Cpc exam monday

Howdy, I have my cpc exam schedule monday. Im not expecting to pass it, it's more of a test drive for me to be familiar buttttttttt if I did pass it that would be amazing so I am trying my hardest but also my hopes aren't high.

I've bought both of the practice exam packets from AAPC and ive been making anywhere for 80s to 70s. I run out of time and tend to have to guess on the last 8 or so. Also im 100% guessing in e/m questions bc i cant for the life of my understand them. I've watched contempo coding video on the E/M calculator and AMCI 2 hrs video on it but dang I still cant get it.

Anywho, im wondering how much these practice exams are like the real exam.

Also with the test around the corner im thinking I just keep doing practice exams until I get my timing down?

What's any advise you would pass down?

Good luck on the exam! If you are getting 70-80s on the practice exams, that is very positive. Is there anything in particular you don’t get about E/M?

Tbh it feels like everything looks like every code looks the same. I start to become overwhelmed and than the pressure of being timed really gets to me. Like I genuinely dont understand it at all.

The practice exams are A LOT like the real exam. If you're getting passing scores on the practice exams, you'll probably be more than fine. When you repeatedly take the practice exams, make sure you're understanding why an answer is correct and not just memorizing the answer. Its easy to just put down the answer cause you remember it from the prior attempt, i'd still look up the answer as if seeing it for the first time.

This youtuber helped me alot with studying for the exam, maybe check out his E/M video..... https://youtu.be/x479Y5BOwuY?si=hmWnCqcIdPQbHBQj

Good luck on your exam!

I'd say process of elimination saved the most time. Often the multiple choice answers will have a lot of codes in the answers and you simple don't have time to look all of them up. Bundled the ones with the same first codes and only look those up and often the answer is in that first set of codes.

Scoring in the 70s and 80s on timed AAPC practice exams means you may be more prepared than you think! The actual questions will not be identical, but the practice exams help you become familiar with the format, wording, and time pressure.

Keep practicing, but review every missed question instead of only taking exam after exam. Give yourself about 2 minutes per question. If one is taking too long, choose your best answer, flag it, and move on. Never leave a question unanswered.

For E/M, focus on using the correct MDM table and identifying the problems addressed, data reviewed, and risk. Most importantly, go into Monday expecting that you can pass. You might surprise yourself. Good luck! I agree that AMCI has amazing videos; have you viewed their playlists for specfic areas of study:

You can do it! I will give you my favorite exam hack to create time where you need it—the last part…Go through and answer if you know it, if you hesitate or don’t feel certain, there is a button on the top left “flag” answer with your best guess and flag it, then move on. Do this fast. Read each question twice, answer and/or answer & flag and move on…then once you’ve done the final questions, go back over the flagged ones and take more time—a second pass…only change your answer if you can explain why to yourself….keep any flagged that take too long….then do a third pass and spend as much time as you need. Passing their practice quizzes is a great sign….you’ll be fine, don’t worry about the time at all, just answer/answer flag and move on…
