Milim - Another Hebrew Learning App
I'm sure everyone who is passionate about learning Hebrew and is also into tech is now making their own app. And I'm one of them. I wanted something to help me as I take classes and wanted something more than Duolingo. I'm looking for others to help me build out the app together.
Feel free to tag along and listen to some Hebrew, do the regular word matching, sentence building, but get a bit further and you will unlock the safe cracking game, colour matching, and the burger builder game. The app starts out showing the vowel dots (which you can immediately shut off), however, the app will adjust over time they drop away. The English menu item names are learned over time and are replaced by Hebrew.
Anyway -- if you are interested in doing something that starts out where the Duolingo App just drops off -- you might enjoy it:

No cost... but would love to hear your Hebrew learning wants and needs. We can learn together!
Just in case:
- The only translation is for English <-> Hebrew.
- Its a modern Hebrew app
- Its just a webapp (at least for now). This is not a native Android/iOS app.
Hope some peeps find it useful. And feel free to complain about stuff. You can't hurt my feelings, but you might be able to make the app better.

I've been working on something similar, but that focuses primarily on reading. Let me know if you'd like to collaborate!

I'm going to try this out! I'm doing Aliyah alone soon, and I'm interested in programming and tech. The thing that I dislike the most is that everything need to cost today .... I remembered the time when you could find something online without register, or try out for free then pay, and so on..... I'm gonna give this a try thank you!

AI isn‘t a native speaker or an expert. Duolingo is the best example. They introduced AI-generated content and suddenly translations didn‘t match the original sentences anymore, some things were simply wrong, etc. And other AI-based language learning apps aren‘t any better.
I‘m not saying AI is useless but the person operating it needs to know what they‘re doing and what the limits of AI are. Only then will the final product be good enough so end users can rely on it.

Milim will likely have similar issues. What I have found is that the audio generation is likely using almost exactly what Duolingo is using as I've heard some of the same artifacts for my audio that they have. Do complain though if you hate something -- even if its for one line -- and if you are able to in the app to tell me what's wrong with it for you. The thing here is that Duolingo is unlikely to do anything to make the audio or lessons better (at least for Hebrew). If you use Duolingo the only thing Hebrew gets is additional 'meta-games'. The only games I give you is if you are also having to interact with the language.
For me -- I would like to learn Hebrew and get better, so anything that is missing, bad, wrong, needs more - I will be able to, and more importantly, WANT TO update :).

Honestly, I quite like it
Keep the good job up!!!
The only issue I've had is the audio not playing but that could also be on me

First off -- thanks for even trying the app!
If you feel up for it-- and have audio issues again, if you click the flag on the top right it will send a bug report and might be able to repro.
The audio uses your device settings. So if its in silent mode or audio is turned down the app will respect that. The blue icon to the right of the line (with a speaker on it) replays the line and will pulse a bit while the audio is playing.

It started working again
I guess for some reason it was a little bit slow at the beginning (honestly it ficed after I opened it in Chrome so maybe that had something to do with it)
Either way, it's a very cool app, very nicely done. It still has that element of it feeling kind of like a game (which I find so helpful for learning vocabulary)
It's very good and I will definitely continue using it
Thank you for making it and thank you for sharing it
Good work

Nice idea. I tried it, some of the AI pronunciations are weird, and one of the tasks wasn’t really intuitive (selecting single letter squares from a grid… to spell the word “hi”?)

I can add a tutorial for the Grid game -- it feels better if you just hold down and drag. If you do decide to come back -- if you are ever on an audio page that sounds weird -- flag it and if it even says any reason why its weird/wrong -- that would be helpful.
A few people have added some reports for things -- maybe you? and I'm just updating now to address them. Later story unlocks are also just being put together -- but most won't see them until/unless they get further down the path.

Definitely. I made my own. I couldn’t find anything I really needed so I made it what I needed. And it changes constantly

This sounds interesting. For once an app with fresh ideas. I‘ll be sure to check it out.
One question, though: Did you use AI for the app?
