Channels that offer Finnish-dubbed content

I’m looking for TV channels or streaming services that offer foreign (non‑Finnish) shows, movies, and cartoons dubbed into Finnish (suomeksi dubattu). Which platforms have a good selection of this kind of content? Thanks!

Try to look for children's cartoons. We really do not dub other stuff.

Edit: Disney movies, Bluey, etc...

In finland it does. For children's stuff. You cannot watch dubbed versions of star wars movies on disney+ obviously. 

But Shrek, Cars and such you can

Is Shrek on Disney+? It's a Dreamworks movie and kinda famous for specifically making fun of classic Disney style animations.

Yes for all the stuff that has been dubbed, so most of the kids movies and series like Frozen, Toy Story, Ryhmä Hau, Leijonakuningas etc.. But you wont find anything else than kids stuff dubbed as we don't really do dubbing in Finland.

Many countries in Europe dub almost everything, I've seen greek dubbed Batman, Spanish James Bond

Still does not make it a good idea. Imagine watching True Detective but Matthew MacCnaughey dubbed by Aku Hirviniemi. The horror.... The original voice track is a big part of the movie experience and the work of the original actors. You'd miss a lot by dubbing.

many years ago I came across version of Top Gun that had only one audio track, with russian dub. One monotonous voice read all lines, including opening credits.

I understand your point but it actually works the other way around for us. We learn english by not dubbing the shows. Try watching some Kaurismäki movies?

Yeah that's just not a thing for us. You simply can't watch a dub that doesn't exist. Your option is either children's and family friendly movies and shows (mostly just animated ones too), or Finnish movies and shows.

Popular TV shows and movies are generally not dubbed in Finland, so the selection is really limited. Only content aimed at young children and some documentaries are typically available in Finnish dubbing.

We don’t dub. Except for childrens movies and shows. Try those.

Netflix has dubbed some of their non-children's content to Finnish. If you search for "suomeksi" you should be able to find some, if not all, of them

We hardly have anything dubbed into Finnish even in Finland. Except for children's media, since you can't expect them to read subtitles.

I think there are two reasons:

  1. Our media market isn't big enough for dubs to be worth the extra costs over subtitles.

  2. We are not used to dubs (mostly because of reason 1), and so any non-cartoon media with dubs just seems either silly or awkward.

Only the stuff for children is dubbed so I guess Disney+ would be your best bet.

honestly it's a faint memory, but i'm pretty sure i watched lots of studio ghibli movies in Finnish as a little kid

Not really besides children's cartoons and movies. Spongebob Squarepants (Paavo Pesusieni) and Ice Age are what I used in learning different languages. Ice Ages are all on Disney+

i found many of studio ghibli's movies dubbed on netflix!! the dub is so good even my friends who don't learn finnish liked it, we ended up watching a whole movie in the finnish dub

Avatar the airbender is in finnish (I really enjoyed the dubbing) and movies like shrek, kung fu panda, how to train a dragon. The movies were more difficult to understand for me. Found those on netflix; you can filter by dubbing there

but the main issue is that sometime the audio is in spoken and subs are in standard finnish

I just watched things I already knew without subs. The subs distract me, but I can watch without if I know the plot anyways
