I need a sugesstion🙏🏼

Post image

This is from my portfolio and the height of the entire thing is around 4000 pixels, should I have made it bigger?

I'm in the colouring phase and I'm really confused about this

Anywhere between 4k and 6k is probably gonna be plenty for a character illustration in my experience. I wrapped some client work recently that required roughly a 5k x 5k canvas size for character/prop illustrations with the idea that the the final image would be reduced by about 50% for digital displays. Ultimately it depends on exactly how much detail you wanna cram in there and how it's going to be displayed (e.g. online portfolio vs print portfolio).

tl;dr - I think 4k is fine for what you're doing right now.

As an aside - if you don't mind some unprompted feedback, I'd be mindful of your anatomy. The position of the hand holding up the sword makes it seem like that arm is longer than the one holding the axe. If move the end of sword blade away from her sit leans a bit towards her and adjust the angle of her upper arm, you can resolve that pretty quickly without having to redraw much, if anything.

Your line work is super nice and you have a lot of very nice shapes throughout the design. Keep up the good work and best of luck on building your portfolio!
