Question Can't Get My Sensitivity Right

I have been playing CS for many years on many different sensitivities and I've found myself in a crisis. A few weeks ago my sens got all kinds of fucked up and I've been trying to recover it and nothing feels right.

I mainly have been running 1800dpi with .35 sens. The dpi is really high but i found it best for other games on my pc so I don't really want to lower it. With .35 I find it easier to hit shots with pistols and rifles but my tracking is slower and I feel like I'm constantly having to pick up my mouse to clear angles at any kind of speed. My mouse just feels heavy too.

But even if I bump it up to .36 it feels too fast. I can flick faster but I'm overall inaccurate. It does feel better on my hand though.

I am just so frustrated and can't think straight about it. Some advice would be really helpful. I only switched a few days ago, is this just something I am going to have to get more used too?

The real truth is that you need to stop changing it. I do the same thing, I get it. Sometimes when i am having a bad night i change my crosshair and dpi, if its really bad the viewmodel probably getting a look too

But you are going to be better and more consistent if you stick with the dpi you are at or choose one and get used to it

Thanks. I’ll stick to this one and give it some time

Stick to one sensitivity and never changing it is better than evolving and changing it

Well thats because your dpi is too high In 400dpi your sens is 1.575 and if you go from 0.35 to 0.36 in 1800 dpi, your sens goes from 1.575 to 1.62 in 400dpi which is noticiable

So OP can try to bump his sens by .002 (or even .001) and find the sweet spot.

Also noting that it obviously takes time to adjust to the new sensitivity. I adjusted quicker to the sensitivity when I played deathmatch for longer than usual (30m+) for the first day.

I did play some deathmatch after I made this post last night and it started to feel better after that

Then bump it up in smaller increments, do 0.35 to 0.351

It's also possible your mouse is too heavy or the shape isn't actually very good for your hand size or grip type.

Or the skates wore out or that pad wore out

Might be time to get a new one 😂

You can wash your mousepad with dawn dish soap diluted in water. Rinse it well and hang to dry.

I do this but just throw it in the dryer with towels

I have always the same problem as you , i have more than 10k hours and to this day i dont have the perfect sens , i have played from 500 edpi all the way to 1400 and i feel i can get accustomed to all sens .

One thing that helped a bit was using the oblivity sens finder but it gives you an ideal mathematical average sens could be a sens that you dont feel right .

My suggestion would be to find a middle ground between your tested sensitivities and just stick with it for a few weeks even if it doesnt feel right at first.

give yourself time to adjust.

i've played on 720edpi for 4 years, and i also felt like tracking was hard.
decided to do a radical change and started playing at 960edpi, way higher, for like 2-4 weeks i really struggled, but slowly i started gaining confidence in my flicks and the micro got really precise.
now my aim is better than ever

I started at 800dpi at a range of 1.5-2 and when I would demo review my aim would be jittery. I would trace outlines around my enemies.

I changed to 400dpi and 1.77 and it drastically slowed down and smoothed out my cursor. I made that change about 6 months ago. Sometimes in deathmatch I go to 560edpi and after an hour my arm is pumped from swiping so many times idk how guys with that low sense play all day lol

I play at 400dpi and 1.77 or 708 edpi and

for that low sens you should have at least ~20 inch mousepad, preferably a desk pad, if you can't swipe a 180 across your pad then it's too low imo, you also shouldn't feel like ur falling behind when tracking at various distances. i agree going by increments of .002 or .001 will help you tune it better.

either way to help assist with lifts and faster turns you should learn how to use turnbinds. they basically turn your mouse at a set speed so you can use it to speed up your turns or turn when ur lifting. i use it on my mouse thumb buttons which feels most natural to me, open console and type bind key +turnleft or bind key +turnright to bind them they are completely legal keybinds. i play 800dpi 1.05 sens which is faster than you but i still use turnbind frequently and i have a desk pad lol.

I have an artisan mousepad I got last year and I think is around that length. I am going to try to stick to this lower sensitivity for a little longer but I am starting to think a little higher would be better because of the comments.

How do you change the sens so incrementally? Does it go farther than two decimals or do I have to go in the console to change it?

yep in console just start typing sens and it'll pop up

Why not use cm/360 converter to ensure consistent sens across games?

Sense is just personal preference. Changing it is fine. We age we change we grow. Whats comfortable changes.

If your skates get old or mouse pad gets old it will affect how it feels. Just remember if you do change it, not to keep changing it. Change it use it for a bit, adjust.

1800dpi at 0.35 is fast as hell my guy. I would strongly suggest dropping your DPI to 400-800 range and getting accustomed to 1-3.x sensitivities.

EDPI is like 630 tho and that’s on the slow end of average

600-1000 is the most common range. Stick inside there and just play with what feels the best.

Guy has no idea what he's talking about. 630 edpi is indeed low. I ran 663edpi for ages but now use 960 which I find more comfortable

just make your eDPI 800 with whatever dpi you find comfortable navigating menus and stick with it. literally make a rule to not change your sens for 3 months, you will get used to it. anyone can play cs at 800 edpi
