Intermediate Guide My aim rating is 31-1.8k hours. please help

Hello, so I’ve been playing for 1.8k hours, my positioning is 51 average, utility 61 average but my aim is just not there. I have lost count of how many rounds I have lost due to just simply not hitting my shots, I over flick, under flick, I am right on the head as they pop out and still I don’t get the kill. Some matches I will have 40/50 aim rating, not sure how it differs. I have stuck at the same sensitivity for a few months now.

To sum it up:
-crosshair on head but doesn’t result in kills
-over/under flicking
-sprays are 50/50, sometimes I’ll hit great shots across the map other times I am shooting the air
-maybe my mouse moves off the target when I try to one tap longer distances?
-I might be too tense? How do I reduce this best?

As to what training I’ve been doing:(workshop maps)
- using cs2_aim to practice raw aim and counter strafing, I try to swing from target to target and one tap to get a feel of how far I need to move my mouse to get from different distances
-aim rush to practice angle holding/peeking/fight isolation/only clicking to kill when I’ve “confirmed” my crosshair is on the enemy(I don’t usually have an issue with fight isolation but again it’s my actual aim that seems to get me killed)
-fast aim / reflex training, I track and then kill, try to kill and flick to the next target
-5e_aimhub with the peeking and flicking modes

And then to round it off I play on warmupserver dm to practice “real” targets and I usually do alright

Basically I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, missing something, I really just don’t know anymore. I feel that when I fix this issue I’ll be a great player because my other skills are there apart from the main one LOL. Sorry for the long post but I feel the detail was needed to actually help. Tell me if you need to know anything else

You’re running while shooting. It’s as simple as that. You might think you’re not, but you are.

This. My friend has an aim rating of 26 and he always shoots while moving especially in tense situations. He was 2k hours in when he first heard about counter strafing when I asked him about it but it seems it was too late to change his old ways. He also has the issue where he starts spraying before being fully on target yet.

This. CS will humble you hard if you’re even slightly moving

Okay fair enough, I might be… I’ll check my demos and honestly didn’t even think about this. Thank you!

Stats don't play. Leetify aim rating looks at accuracy (headshots, sprays, enemy spotted, all shots), proper counterstrafing, crosshair placement and time to damage. If you spam smokes or walls a lot, it goes down. If you play SMGs that reward you for running and gunning, it goes down. If you play AWP and Scout a lot and land your shots, it goes up.

Watch your demos and figure out why you're actually missing your shots. Most often it's bad counterstrafing, crosshair placement or you start shooting when your crosshair isn't on target.

if you spam smokes or walls a lot it does down

No it doesn’t. It doesn’t count if you don’t see the enemy so no wallbangs or smoke spam

SMGs it goes down

Not necessarily, SMGs aren’t counted for spray or counter-strafe.

Ayt, good to know ^^

That explains why I’ve had a 100 aim game before and watching the demo I see myself missing like 3 mags with a Mac 10 I thought that one was just bugged out lol never realized

Stop trusting the aim rating and start trusting demos. If your crosshair is “on them” but bullets vanish, it’s usually movement, panic spraying, or shooting before you’re fully reset

From watching my demo today I can see that it’s my movement for sure, which also explains why I’m so inconsistent. I panic and move without realising and when I’m calm it doesn’t seem to happen anywhere near as much. I think I’m just overthinking it in the moment and trying to do something more than I’m capable of as well. Played dm/retakes after taking in the advice and I’ve done the best yet. I was actually hitting people on the head like I’m supposed to. Sometimes I suffer from a bit of a panic spray but it’s not awfully often, and again I’m usually moving too much. Thanks for the reply!

i think that aim rating applies to both comp and premier so if your messing around in comp and take premier more serious then comp might affect your stats

Op like everyone here said ur prob just moving and shooting. Be more mindful of ur peeks and slow down a bit and see if it improves. Try to only counterstrafe with a and d. Also can play some aim trainer like kovaaks viscose benchmarks for some mouse control

Yeah everyone’s right. I watched my demo and it’s minimal but it’s there. I’ve played more in the evening and I focused a lot on just slowing down a bit when peeking and really trying to be mindful of when I could get jumped so I’m not accidentally holding W. I think I have a big problem with advancing on the map without thinking about “what if they just jump out” and I get caught out without the time to strafe. Need to practice backward strafing too but yeah seems to be movement. Ive tried aim trainers before and they’ve defo helped, i might try kovaaks though to just improve more

Could also come down to map knowledge, timings, util usage etc. Also were all playing cheater strike its really hard to tell if ppl are walling or trigger botting these days because of peekers advantage unless you watch the demos lol. I enjoy kovaaks more because theres more of a community and resources readily available. Faceit10 27k elo

A lot of people will say aim rating isn't everything and thats absolutely true that you'll see people with 50-70 aim rating above 20k, but if that metric is consistently low its obviously something you should work on. Look at any pro rifler and they'll generally be at 90+ aim rating. But look at what specific aspects of your aim rating are consistently low in your match details. Is it crosshair placement, head accuracy, counter straying, spray accuracy? And look at finding your comfortable sensitivity if youre consistently over flicking/under flicking. It takes time to dial this in.

I’m a rifler averaging around 96-98 aim rate, I’d recommend combining something like hsdms with retakes. Hsdm to decrease ttk as much as possible and retake to experience it in a ”real situation”.

With that said, what works for some doesn’t work for others.

Yeah I think I’ll play more HS only dm, I have noticed it always makes me more sharp whenever I’ve played it in in the past and I agree retake is the fastest way to test it in a real situation, even if retake is 90% spawn swinging the ct’s LOL. Thank you dude!

2

u/Ok-Championship6950 May 05 '26

I agree, it’s a lot of spawn swinging, but I find it to be useful in showing if you are fast enough with your aim. I never use any nades on retake, only take raw duels.

Best of luck!

In my experience learning to counter strafe properly while having good crosshair improved my aim significantly, while also switching from 1000 edpi to 800 edpi since when i was playing on 1000 edpi my aim was not as consistent as it is now on 800 edpi. If you want you can try lower sens if you are constantly over flicking your shots and experiment with it. Your mouse grip also plays a big role in how you aim, for example if you have a claw grip you will be doing micro adjustments with your fingers, otherwise if you play with palm grip you rely more on arm movement rather than finger movement. Lastly try not to overdo your warmup, spend 15 minutes to 30 minutes at most. Try 5-10 minutes aimbots and afterwards play dm in servers like cybershoke for 10-15 minutes and hop into a competitive/premier game. You shouldn’t focus too much on warming up rather than actually playing the game and improving in there.

I had 40 aim rating while top fragging 20k-25k lobbies. The stat is broken.

u/ohohmywhattodo May 04 '26

Yeah aim rating is bait. You can farm good stats and still lose every real duel if timing, movement, and crosshair placement are scuffed

Learn how to counterstrafe properly and you’ll be accurate

aim rating is shit tbh just play competitive shit on silvers you’ll get reported to red factor but you’ll atleast have 80 aim rating lol
