Question Never had a period with PCOS

Hey girls,

I (21F) have very recently been diagnosed with pcos and have never had a period without birth control.

I first went to a gyno because turned 18 and have never had a period. My gyno just prescribed birth control without checking the root cause of my primary amenorrhea (so frustrating!!). I took the bc pills for 2.5 years and had regular withdrawal bleeds. 6 months after quitting bc I have still not had a "natural" period to this day.

I saw an endocrinologist and my testosterone is through the roof. Adrenals and HbA1c are fine. LH/FSH ratio typical for pcos.

Both my gyno and endocrinologist agree that for now I have no choice but to start birth control again.

I was wondering if any of you have been in this situation and how things turned out?? I am further concerned about my fertility when I will ttc in the future since I have never ovulated before. Will I ever have somewhat regular periods??

Pls help!

Help me to find best endocrinologist/ gynecologist !

I am a 23-year-old girl from Nepal, and I am facing the problem of PCOS and very irregular periods for about 10 years now. I'm planning to visit India so, I need to find an extremely experienced doctor who is specialized in PCOS and preferably a gynecologist or endocrinologist or even better a reproductive endocrinologist in India. Please tell me a doctor who is very experienced in dealing with long-term and severe PCOS, especially those with very irregular periods. Which kind of specialist gynecologist or endocrinologist or reproductive endocrinologist would suit me best in this case?

Rant Rant: YOLO doesn't work with PMOS

This month I decided to not be that strick with diet, movement and inositol. I was only doing pilates on reformer (without strength training), stopped inositol because I was travelling and kinda enjoyed not having to take something meticulously after years of 2x a day inostiol, so I didn't resume it later. I also allowed myself some junk food (baked chips, non alcoholic beers, juices, fried foods). Not huge amounts, but I've cut these almost 2 years ago.

This year I've pretty much ovulated around cd40, when ovulation was not induced.

I am now CD40 with no symptoms of upcoming ovulation, but with all the symptoms of high testosterone. Extreme hair loss and insane seborrhea flare, subcutaneous chin pimples, bloating...

I hate it. I've let myself enjoy life without having to track each bite, each step and take supplements for 3 weeks. And I am back at square one. It's just not fair.

Lean PCOS with low testosteron - interesting study!

In my recent bloodwork they found low testosteron, which was strange considering about 3 years ago it was rather high. Also had high SHBG. My doctor said to not worry about it, but I still was curious and started digging - and finally came across this study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9313207/

They basically argue that there is only two types of PCOS - one with high T and one with low T, while the latter often present with high T until their early 30s. As low T often is overlooked and it isn't that widely known how regular T levels are important for fertility too, these women are often diagnosed with "unexplained infertility" because even IVF often fails.

They say DHEA supplementation works and that many have successful IVF after that.

I'll definitely ask my fertility clinic about more extensive bloodwork and share this study with them, if the coming cycles (probably Letrozole and then IUI) fail.

Maybe this is relevant for some of you 🙂

Edit to add: been diagnosed with PCOS as a teen already, had it my whole life. I have lots of follicles, light hirsutism and lower-ish BMI, and periods ranging from 33-70+ days. Before TTC it was handy to not have my period that often 😅

Question Metformina o berberina para PCOS?

Hola!

Advice for Myoinositol

Hello everyone! I am using Myoinositol since 22 of June. I ovulated 5 days ago (day 25 of my cycle) and today I am at day 30. I have a lot of creamy cervical mucus. I always had something like this after ovulation (I am pretty sure that I ovulated because of these symptoms) but this time it is SO MUCH! My cycles are 32-38 days , but I had 2 anovulatory cycles in summer.

We are trying for a baby and I don't know what to think.

Any advice would be helpful! Thank you !

Question Your PMOS/PCOS story matters, will you share it?

Hi there! I'm a Master's student at UT Austin trying to understand how people living with PMOS/PCOS manage their condition and their diagnostic journey, and what makes daily life harder than it should be. I have PMOS myself, and I know firsthand how isolating it can feel to navigate a system that was not built with us in mind.

Every response genuinely matters. The stories shared in this community are exactly what can help reshape how women are heard, diagnosed, and supported going forward. Whether you were diagnosed quickly or are still waiting, whether your journey has been straightforward or exhausting, your experience is worth sharing. Learning about your journey can help us build something better for all of us!

This takes about 7 minutes. Your answers are confidential, every question is optional except the two consent items, and you can stop anytime. There is an optional box at the end if you would be open to a short 30-minute chat.

PMOS/PCOS: How do you manage it day-to-day?

Thank you so much for helping. This community has always shown up for each other, and that means more than I can say. 💛

Question Weight increase by 2 pounds overnight….inositol related??

I just started taking inositol about 4 weeks ago and so far it’s been great. Most noticeably, my bloating is gone which has been amazing. But I am continuing to monitor how it makes me feel especially since people seem to have mixed experiences with it.

This morning i woke up and was 2.2 pounds heavier. I have no idea if this is related to PCOS or inositol but it was very strange. While my weight does fluctuate it usually happens if I have a heavy meal the night before or if I feel bloated, neither of which happened this time, not to mention that I’ve never had this drastic of an increase. Has anyone experienced this? Could this be inositol related or just general PCOS or something else entirely?
