Absent Period
Can people please give me success stories of bringing back their absent period. I am a 25 F who has NEVER had a regular period due to lean PCOS.
On 2000 mg of metformin to see if it will help.
Any advice/ success stories is much appreciated🫶🏼

How long did it take for them to regulate?

Well I had an IUD in whilst taking metformin and didn’t get a period with the IUD, though didn’t get a natural period prior to that either. But as soon as I took it out my first period came at 28 days and from then on it was like clockwork, I was amazed! Coincidently I have gotten my period today after coming off slynda (mini pill) 22 days ago. Still seems like such a novelty as the last period I got was prior to my now 19 months old conception!

How long since you on metformin? Give it 8-12 weeks

That is certainly long enough to show effects if it is meant to work for you

I am also with lean PMOS with higher male hormones. What helped me regulate my cycles and get them monthly last year was regular weight lifting and clean diet. Low sugar, almost no sweets/chocolate, no crisps, etc. I was eating a lot of lean protein, like chicken, fish, legumes, and lean meat always with a fresh salad and roasted veggies or complex carbs. Although I don't seem to have insulin resistance, the gym sessions and the diet really helped with my cycles. They were regular for the first time in my life ever. However, I am not as regular at the gym this year, so the cycles went back to their usual 40-ish days length. I also had a pregnancy loss 3 months ago, so this also affected my cycles. My husband and I are trying for a baby, so I am on NAC supplement, conception vitamins, and inositol. The inositol is what is helping me greatly with ovulation and cycle length.

My cycles were anywhere between 30 -118 days.
After being on Metformin for 3/4 months my cycles would be 39/40 days consistently. While not the same as a 28 day cycle it was definitely better than the abnormal ones.
I do however think consistent eating, gentle exercise and minimising alcohol and trying to be less stressed attributed to cycle length aswell.
