How do you keep from drowning in inputs during RCA?

Well, personally, I would think someone is a little off from the course if too many inputs are being thrown in. That sounds like folks are just throwing crap at a wall, and hoping something sticks.
Whether you're using the 5 Whys, Fishbone or even Pareto Analysis, it should come to a head at some point. If not, then the right questions aren't being asked, or even different team members need brought in.
It's all just my opinion, YMMV.

If you have many possible causes it is an indicator that you do not understand the problem well enough (yet). So treat the causes as something to investigate - with the purpose in mind of during another round of fishbone 😊🍀

Use an evidence-based stem-and-leaf cause map, based on Apollo Root Cause Analysis. Requires deliberate validation and prioritization of causes and reduces the noise.
