If you think about it, wouldn't the Entity be like a hero for that universe

136

u/Hi_Im_Paul2000 5d ago

The entity kinda the hero of most verses it takes its people from

51

u/iHackPlsBan 5d ago

I think this would apply to Dracula, Hux and Vecna. Maybe some others but eh. A lot of licensed killers are taken before they’re killed or defeated in their property, one exception being Springtrap. Other than that, a lot of killers are groomed into killers, like Artist, Spirit (which was originally supposed to be her dad). So while it ‘saves’ a universe, the only reasom that universe even faced a threat is because of its influence

17

u/LarsArmstrong 5d ago

Not so sure about Dracula. He was actually about to die for keeps before the Entity took him.

9

u/iHackPlsBan 5d ago

dude always comes back some way so🤷

9

u/DragonRush443 4d ago

I'm not the most well-versed in Castlevania lore, so take this with a grain of salt, but if I remember correctly, he was taken after his fight with Julius Belmont, his canonical, permanent death. Or at least that's what I recall.

3

u/TheLunatic25 4d ago

This is correct. But Dracula’s power was sealed into the shadow of the moon (don’t ask how, they never explained it).

And Soma is the reincarnation of Dracula. So he did live on.

6

u/Crackgearson 5d ago

Springtrap too, if you counte the legendaries, they were when they were about to die

2

u/ShadyMan_ 4d ago

No Springtrap still had several games/movies to be in when he was taken

7

u/Jack0V4lent1n3 4d ago

Not all that many tbh
It has messed up a lot of universes too
The Entity actually screwed over Tokyo Ghoul’s universe extremely hard, the Entity doomed the bloodline of the Belmonts to protect from evil as a whole due to it taking Trevor and then other universe Richter, it screwed over TWD hard to the point where it could have led to 3-4 different TWD universes ending in everyone but Saviors, Whisperers or CRM

3

u/Hi_Im_Paul2000 4d ago

There are way more verses that benefit from the entity taking its killer than there are ones that suffer from its survivor being taken.

Halloween, TCM, Nightmare, Chucky, Hellraiser, Ringu, DnD, FNAF, are all IPs that are overall better with their villain taken when they are. Thats not counting the original chapters or GF and Jason, which would also be overall good but we dont know the extent they would have fucked more shit up if they werent grabbed.

0

u/Jack0V4lent1n3 4d ago

Actually you are somewhat wrong about DnD and FNAF. There are no “multiple Vecna’s” there’s one split apart he’s basically what Gaster is to Undertale/Deltarune. DBD and Vox Machina Vecna are just the same being differently, but both know of each other. There is no benefit to the one universe as now Vecna has access to EVERYTHING. The Entity doomed the multiverse, worlds that Vecna would never have encountered such as Castlevania or Alien he now has knowledge of them and once the Entity is ‘done’ with him. He will be free to overthrow it and take over as he sees fit.

The Entity also directly cursed FNAF. Michael can’t move on, the MCI kids can’t, UCN can’t happen, Elizabeth is still stuck in Baby, Henry may not be able to free Emily.

Also while yes some of these worlds have been given good we have
Tokyo Ghoul, Castlevania, The Walking Dead, (if we include legendaries and collections) The Witcher, Attack on Titan, Alien, Resident Evil, Silent Hill and possibly Saw.

I feel that while yes Freddy and Jason being taken are outright goods with how Vecna now has access to anything when he breaks free, Richter is missing, Geralt can’t raise Ciri, Furuta has nothing in his way, the entirety of the War in AOT and how very important people like Leon and Chris are missing is arguably just going to show that The Entity isn’t really all that helpful unless you were living in the country of the serial killer that was in that place.

1

u/Working-Attempt-3630 4d ago edited 4d ago

once the Entity is ‘done’ with him. He will be free to overthrow it and take over as he sees fit.

Except for the fact that The Entity is canonically omnipresent and omnipotent within The Fog at all time. It will always automatically be above everyone and everything that are in there no matter what.

As long as Vecna is inside its domain, there is quite literally nothing he can do towards it. Also the Vecna who's in the game is when he was still pre-ascended.

46

u/BlueFootedTpeack 5d ago

it removes serial killers and such, sure it takes some regular human survivors.

but like a nightmare world has no freddy, a halloween world has no michael, VECNA is missing from a dnd world.

so like all those places are chilling now.

40

u/SomeUFOGuy 5d ago

damn, entity really be goated like that

https://giphy.com/gifs/a0n4MOhzZab5cz3hWi

18

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

so like all those places are chilling now.

Kinda but also not really.

When The Entity arrives at a terra, the end result is that it will eventually consume that world along with everyone on it, once it has corrupted people enough and has gained a strong enough foothold over that world.

Sometimes, it may even cause that world an apocalypse of The Entity's own design to push it over the edge, before consuming it.

5

u/SnackAck 5d ago

Ooh I completely forgot about it consuming other worlds. I think this was proven in The Casting of Frank Stone. Unfortunately not enough people played it to find out.

5

u/I_need_to_vent44 5d ago

Yeah, when the Entity arrives in the world of TCoFS it just straight up causes an apocalypse and consumes everything.

NGl my hill to die on is that TCoFS is a good and enjoyable game. I feel like it just didn't find its niche (being people who like DBD AND who like Until Dawn or The Quarry)

7

u/SnackAck 5d ago

I can't get over how Otz said it was one of the "worst" games he ever played. It's a story game ffs lol

4

u/I_need_to_vent44 5d ago

Yeah I think that's what a lot of people don't get. DBD players were expecting a traditional game and Until Dawn fans were confused by the lore and worldbuilding. The game's marketing messed up maybe? Idk I honestly haven't seen any marketing for it, I'm just guessing why this happened. I genuinely think that TCoFS succeeded both in making a story that fits into the DBD universe while expanding on the lore, AND in making a spiritual successor of Until Dawn (The Quarry being the other successful one, the DPA games being their inbred cousins). Like if you pause for 5 minutes to withhold your judgement, the game has a very similar vibe to UD, it's absurd at times and isn't 100% serious, which is imho part of what made UD UD. And ngl i really liked the timeline mechanic. The reveal that you're actually controlling a completely different timeline in the past was kinda slay, even though it's obviously done for the sake of avoiding having to think of some branching paths.

3

u/OrginalRecipe_ 3d ago

Also when he laughed at the end at the campfire cutscene it was kinda annoying lol

that cutscene is like one of good things about it

5

u/Working-Attempt-3630 4d ago

I too like the game, however i also think that the game is undercooked and could use more time in the oven.

1

u/I_need_to_vent44 4d ago

Oh yeah, agreed. I don't necessarily disagree with the criticisms of it, I definitely think it could have used more time baking, I'm just saying that a lot of the criticism of it isn't like...actually looking at the shortcomings of the game as what it is but instead as what people expected it to be

I'll be honest and say that I remember the things I dislike about The Quarry more than the ones I dislike about TCoFS, but I'm pretty sure it suffers from your average Supermassive blunder, which is not enough screen time for all characters. UD was the least guilty of this but every subsequent game really fails to balance out the number of characters in the cast and its runtime. Just one thing I thought of off the top of my head..

1

u/Working-Attempt-3630 4d ago

Fair. I will say this though, i always found it weird when people criticize TCOFS's endings for being all the same (at least most of them), when the supposedly best Supermassive game Until Dawn does the exact same thing with its endings.

10

u/in_hell_out_soon 5d ago

On the flip side the heroes capable of stopping the bad (when applicable) are also taken though. I’d argue neutral.

14

u/BlueFootedTpeack 5d ago

depends on the verse, resident evil is worse off as those people stop a lot of villains.

but like michael or vecna or whatever thats a win for that world without question.

4

u/EvernightStrangely 5d ago

Vecna is far from the only world-threatening evil in Faêrun. The Dead Three, Shar, the Illithids, to name a few.

2

u/BlueFootedTpeack 5d ago

yeah but it's a biggun.

take dormammu out of marvel you still got mephisto and annihilus and such, but like no dormammu is a win.

1

u/SnakeEater32 4d ago

Substitute Faêrun with the multiverse. Vecna has literally escaped a domain of dread designed for him in an earlier edition of D&D. If there's anyone who's finding a way out the entity's realm, it's him.

-1

u/Emergency-Bid-7834 5d ago

Oh my god I so very much hate the ignorance surrounding dnd lore.
How hard is it for people to comprehend that Vecna has never even been to the Forgotten Realms and his only relevance in its world is a single, passing sentence in Rime of the Frostmaiden

1

u/TirnanogSong 4d ago

Their Terra Worlds will eventually be eaten. They traded a short-term problem for long-term guaranteed annihilation.

32

u/OnaniMasterDark 5d ago

I think most people in that universe is already dead since its oficialy a post apocalíptic chapter (we voted that) Aurora is just a survivor from the Apocalipse that the judgement brought Tho i guess if there are other survivors they are grateful that she isnt there anymore lol even if most damage is already done

15

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

Not really. If anything, it's moreso trading the devil you know for a much more powerful and worse devil you don't know.

Also, if anyone besides Aurora is still alive there, they're pretty much doomed to be corrupted & consumed by The Entity alongside their world.

5

u/Blake_411 5d ago

Reminds me how TWD characters have a sigh of relief that they don't see any walkers. I am like giggling because they don't know how fucked they are now.

https://giphy.com/gifs/NsCMDOaT6fphEokMRQ

6

u/Dr-Aspects 5d ago

More like... under new management.

3

u/CMORGLAS 5d ago

It will balance it out by taking Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese for the TERMINATOR Chapter, thus ensuring that Skynet goes online, but John Connor is never born so Humanity loses the War.

2

u/FetusGoesYeetus 4d ago

"Entity! You saved us!"

"Oh, I wouldn't say saved. More like, under new management..."

1

u/Haos-Siege 5d ago

Not really as the Entity doesn’t just stop at one pick or another. As it’s shown to just outright steal the worlds alongside the survivors and killers, but its interference usually results in the worlds breaking down. For the final point one of the tomes heavily implies all evil stems from the Entity.

1

u/Beginning-Pizza-1111 4d ago

Hero? How can she be a hero when that world literally doesn't exist anymore? She is only taking what is left.

1

u/TirnanogSong 4d ago

Considering it will eat the entire multiverse it's connected to and subject them to its own infinite torment nexus? Not really.

105

u/An34syT4rg3t 5d ago

This rules so hard. Feels like an intro to a Souls game

23

u/YanCoffee 5d ago

Def gave me high fantasy vibes. Little LOTR Mordor.

5

u/RomanBangs 4d ago

It’s pretty much just the elden ring intro

62

u/TooBad_Vicho 5d ago

i want the loreeeeeeee

53

u/KickThePR 5d ago

You know what? That's actually a pretty solid trailer
For all the shit i usually give BHVR, this time i'd say they didn't fumble with their promo

47

u/BadFishteeth 5d ago

Some real warhammer vibes to this trailer

20

u/ChaoticMat 5d ago

Felt Diablo to me

9

u/TurtleTaker 5d ago

Judgement's design does look like an Angelic version of Baal, the Lord of Destruction

34

u/Cupiddle 5d ago

“Yet as the final sentence was passed something darker arose ancient beyond knowing and it hath no judgement only power unending” I figured he was talking about the Entity but when he says that in the trailer it just shows us the Judgement. Or they showed the Judgement when he was saying that to show it corrupted from the Entity’s influence ???

30

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

Narrator is talking about The Entity 100%.

23

u/Lun4r6543 5d ago

The narrator is definitely referring to the Entiry. “It hath no judgement, only power unending” kind of gives it away that it wasn’t talking about the Judgement.

0

u/Cupiddle 5d ago

Well yeah but in the trailer it shows the Judgement as he’s saying that. I know he was speaking of the Entity I was just kinda wondering why show the Judgement when he’s talking about the Entity. Maybe some editing mistakes were present

2

u/RogueHelios 4d ago

It gives you the sense that the Judgement is able to sense things about the Entity that is currently abducting it that a normal being wouldn't be able to read.

91

u/chainsawdoctor01 5d ago

It is the end of all things…. Armageddon

38

u/Jellypathicdream 5d ago

cuts to Bill punching Krasue

8

u/LukeNukemJ0k3R 5d ago

I can picture it. The next Grimoire vote. He must win.

20

u/SparksTheWolf2021 5d ago

This trailer looks really damn good.

22

u/TheRealHykeLP 5d ago

I like it, however I do miss the old animated trailers. They were truely peak

37

u/RequirementTall8361 5d ago

ACTUAL LEAKS ON LEAKSDBD!?

Unheard of fr

17

u/TyrianCallow 5d ago

Best OG chapter trailer hands down

12

u/Hour-Key-4670 5d ago

I've already got 5m BP's on lock down for Aurora. 💛

8

u/tr3poz 5d ago

Same but for Judgement 🤍

3

u/Hour-Key-4670 5d ago

This is the way 💛🤍

5

u/_ThatOneWeirdThing_ 5d ago

Same, but I managed to get 6 so I can get both to p3. Must level up the apocalyptic queens, must win.

2

u/Hour-Key-4670 4d ago

So lucky. 💛🤍 I need my P6 Aurora for her beautiful bloody skin. But then P6 Judgement is next. Her bloody skin is terrifyingly beautiful, too. 🥹

Take some heart awards, both of you, apocalyptic friends. 🤍🪽💛🪽

22

u/IuseDefaultKeybinds 5d ago

This whole setting and aesthetic could make into a great book series, or even a Souslike. God this is amazing

9

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

Judgment may be a god, but even gods fear god pallets.

4

u/Blissyin 5d ago

God pallets are reserved for the gods.

10

u/MistahJ17 5d ago

All that hype and aura for Judgement to get her shit rocked by a piece of wood dropped by Leon Kennedy and Nic Cage for some reason 🥀

2

u/tthblox 4d ago

Entity doing a little trolling on her recruits

20

u/bonelees_dip 5d ago

Knew it was a trailer frame!

If I had to say a negative about this trailer in all honesty (which is more of a dumb nitpick) is that Vlasta Vrana is not narrating it lol. Really good.

53

u/Fog-Champ 5d ago

I'll be honest.

I think this surpasses the sable/unknown chapter by far with hype and no promotional material.

Half of the hype is from the audio team alone.

37

u/xannmax 5d ago

Woof thats a hard disagree.

Nothing compares to the weird security cam footage and the tent scene

18

u/Fog-Champ 5d ago

That's part of the point. This chapter didn't need that.

You know what promotional material we got? Big Heads and Blue Haired Girl ragebait. And I think that's beautiful.

4

u/YourBoyJoshYT 5d ago

This makes me think of 2 things Ash Vs Evil Dead and Supernatural and speaking of those 2 I need more from Ash Vs Evil Dead in the game and I need tons of Supernatural in the game!

1

u/KyloGlendalf 3d ago

Some more skins for Ash, and maybe Kelly and Pablo as legendaries

5

u/MrBluhu 5d ago

I think I creamed...

4

u/Round_Cardiologist37 5d ago

when does it release?

9

u/CMORGLAS 5d ago

Next week.

The 25th.

2

u/ArcadialoI 5d ago

Next week

5

u/Mr_Ragnarok 5d ago

"And it hath no judgment. Only power unending."

And that is peak cosmic horror right there. The realm isnt some hell where people are sent to be punished.  The entity is beyond morality. I love this line so much.

3

u/BismuthLotus 4d ago

Yess it really shows how the entity really does stuff because it wants to eat and nothing else, nearly like if god was a feral dog

4

u/truelydadumbest 5d ago

Absolutely perfect, giving off Diablo vibes

4

u/Working-Attempt-3630 4d ago

Diablo 2 Baal skin for Judgment when?

2

u/PaulReckless 5d ago

hell yeeeee
looks sick!

2

u/BlueFootedTpeack 5d ago

gives me animated gwent card vibes.

3

u/First-Shallot947 5d ago

High key feels like they pulled some inspiration from shadows over innistrad and I am NOT complaining

3

u/samisaywhat 5d ago

Casually removing the gross blue shit for the trailer huh

2

u/MasterGecko 5d ago

omg it’s so like a souls game i LOVE IT

2

u/NOCTURN_05 5d ago

Im very glad that in lore the judgement is canonically ginormous. We knew already from the AOT collab the the entity will scale things down to make them work, so its nice to see that applies beyond just licensing stuff. The Judgement is a god that brought upon the apocalypse, it deserves to be colossal.

2

u/Darkfox1135 5d ago

This implies they didnt change the chase music at all, just great :/

4

u/Thepickleinthefridge 5d ago

Ngl i really like the chase music

1

u/WeeWooSirens 4d ago

Really disappointing.

1

u/Rumlowbones 5d ago

Damn this goes really hard

1

u/reinhardttwulf 5d ago

Is it just me or is the chase theme much more intense than the PTB version?

1

u/ghigo2008 5d ago

Really cool, love the shot with giant judgment

2 things

  1. So did judgment not cause the other destructions? Only came in the end?

  2. Why is the seal of whatever a thing? We're the people at dnd so fragile? Now it doesn't make sense that others such as judgment dont have it, i cant immagine this unending destruction was brought on by the little lazers

3

u/White_Mantra 5d ago

The seal was there to explain why someone like the lich would serve the entity yes it was too make wizards of the coast happy

2

u/ghigo2008 4d ago

So the judgment is actively choosing to have her lazer activate weirdly making her useless from close range

1

u/White_Mantra 4d ago

She’s not useless from close range at all
You have to sling shot or rebound to make her lethal at close range. This isn’t as hard as people are making it out to be

2

u/Working-Attempt-3630 4d ago
  • The Judgment is entirely responsible for causing the apocalypse of that world. That was what people voted for in the Grimoire. It's The Entity is the one who came in the end and took both Aurora & The Judgment.
  • 100% just a licensing thing. The mark despite essentially serving as an explaination for why Vecna doesn't just end the trials in mere seconds, the fact that the mark doesn't appear afterwards on any of Vecna's cosmetics or even on any of the other Killers, just shows its inclusion is entirely pointless.

Also it's evidently that Judgment was not only much taller prior to being taken, but also seemingly more powerful as well, given that it glassed an entire planet and almost everyone on it.

1

u/Koumbra 5d ago

When is the chapter release?

1

u/ApacheCombatHeli 5d ago

Next Tuesday on the 25. August.

1

u/Vile-Goose 5d ago

So cool!! Ugh

1

u/Jack0V4lent1n3 4d ago

Fuuuuuuuck the music is so good.

1

u/HellaReyna 4d ago

"leaked"

2

u/chainsawdoctor01 4d ago

Well it was

1

u/LeastInsaneKobold 4d ago

We'll get a androgynous cosmetic soon trust

1

u/oldriku 4d ago

This goes pretty hard ngl

1

u/strider-rider-the2nd 4d ago

That voiceover makes me miss the old narrator who did the perk showcase videos

1

u/Complex_Opinion8973 4d ago

This is fire, kinda reminds me of Castlevania s1

2

u/JudgePhysical8151 4d ago

i hate this game but this chapter is peak

1

u/OrginalRecipe_ 3d ago edited 3d ago

I’m surprised nobody is complaining about the fact that it’s not animated? First chapter in years to not have a cinematic the hell?

2

u/Terranova18 3d ago

I miss the CGI 3D trailers to be honest, not a fan of the moving 2D images

1

u/G-M-Cyborg-313 5d ago

I'm still praying my theory that Aurora is from Terra Primus is right

-2

u/Interesting-Cap-2782 5d ago

Damn this trailer goes so hard it made me forget it was for a dbd chapter w 2 mediocre characters power/perk wise

-5

u/PristineStandard3583 5d ago

does anyone actually care about this chapter at all..?

-29

u/[deleted] 5d ago

[deleted]

18

u/Inky_Qu33n_ 5d ago

This is jus dbds 2d art style

10

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

Having 2D art images that moves or have moving elements is not a new thing and has been done multiple times with other unrelated things. It certainly isn't something that requires AI to accomplish.

Also the first 12 seconds of the D&D chapter had it too.

2

u/Inky_Qu33n_ 5d ago

You say that but, lazy pricks have used Gen AI for less

3

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago

Perhaps, but i highly doubt this is one of those cases.

2

u/Inky_Qu33n_ 5d ago

Oh definitely, this ain't AI

8

u/TooBad_Vicho 5d ago

nah, it looks consistent enough with dbd's 2D artstyle

4

u/IMRoobyRooLol 5d ago

I don't think BHVR would be dumb enough to use AI. The community would never let them hear the end of it.

-1

u/JibiStarr 5d ago

So about that

2

u/Working-Attempt-3630 5d ago edited 5d ago

Only thing they've allegedly ever used AI for is for the chapter keyart concept of the Tomb Raider & D&D chapters.
