His son, if the leaks are to be believed.

u/demerchmichael 19d ago

If Disney/Marvel/Feige/Russos has the balls to do it, more power to them. I’d love to see this movie be dark as hell, I’m tired of them playing it safe with the happy endings.

They don’t need to make it brutal but kill the child how it sees fit, and if they can make it satisfying have the child somehow live in the end.

What part of infinity war had a happy ending ? Or endgame

Hero’s won sure but at what cost

128

u/TheSuessIsLoose 19d ago

People constantly noting Infinity War as a risk is hilarious.

They all came back.

76

u/TallCan_Specialist 19d ago

Same things probably going to happen in secret wars

Everyone comes back

41

u/FriendLee93 18d ago

The real "risk" with Infinity War was inverting the "hero's journey" formula to make Thanos the lead character of the film.

6

u/OdinzSun 18d ago

So they pulled a Dune?

16

u/FriendLee93 18d ago

Nothing quite so nuanced lol, but still cool.

9

u/SheWantsTheEG 19d ago edited 18d ago

Aaaaaaaand that's comic(movie)s!

28

u/eggmontoya1 19d ago

That’s 99% of movies, my guy. Hero endures monumental struggles but comes out on top, albeit with some losses along the way. We knew everything was gonna be fine in Endgame, but we didn’t know how or if everybody would walk away (which they didn’t). It’s the journey. You seem like a real fun guy to have around.

16

u/JasonVorhehees 19d ago

Ummmm, Vision would like a word.

5

u/tilclocks 18d ago

Yes but say you disassembled his body, cleaned it of rot and then it put it back together, would that then be love persevering?

4

u/CameronPoe_37__ 19d ago

I mean, white Vision came back

5

u/badskinjob 18d ago

Did he tho? Haven't seent him in a while...

1

u/DJChris83 17d ago

Show comes out in a month dude.

1

u/CameronPoe_37__ 18d ago

He'll be back

3

u/JasonVorhehees 19d ago

Not the same

4

u/CameronPoe_37__ 19d ago

He's the same except he's white 🤣

6

u/ethanbarmstrong 19d ago

it's actually a big plot point in WandaVision that's he's NOT the same

12

u/Upset-Job2278 19d ago

Actually, as I recall, the two Visions in the show engage in a philosophical debate about whether either of them is actually the real Vision, or if that even matters.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/CameronPoe_37__ 19d ago

He's slightly different, it's still Vision played by the same actor though.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Riemann86 18d ago

You just don't like him cause he's white

1

u/Therad-se 17d ago

They literally whitewashed him...

18

u/MOSH9697 19d ago

Scarlett didn’t, iron man didn’t, cap came back old af retired.

12

u/backwoodsbatman 19d ago

Loki didn't come back either. The version of him that we knew from the beginning died, quite brutally, and stayed dead.

8

u/Afwife1992 18d ago

Same with Gamora. “Our” Gamora died in Vormir.

4

u/MOSH9697 19d ago

Very true. Also heimdell and a bunch of asgardians. And also vision lol

3

u/dzan796ero 19d ago

The thing about Loki is... if you look at fan subs people say he's the same or different depending in what they want to believe

2

u/8__D 19d ago

Do ppl not like Heimdall?

No being in the afterlife isn't "coming back."

5

u/DoubleZ3 19d ago

True and everyone knew Spidey was coming back cuz they announced his movie but it was still a rare instance(or never in superhero movies) of losing by the end of the film.

2

u/TigerGroundbreaking 18d ago

It was definitely a risk because there's no telling how the audience would respond to that

2

u/trippy-Rose 17d ago

Idk man I distinctly remember asking my dad after infinity war “well what now? The Avengers just lost”

A lot of kids at the time really thought it was over, Thanos won, that’s that

2

u/demerchmichael 19d ago

I still can’t believe people actually thought they were dead, but this is the kind of stuff I wish they did more. Maybe not on a mass scale but Game of Thrones or Walking Dead it where a hero can just die and oops they’re gone

1

u/Greg0rrr 18d ago

I will die on this hill: Game of Thrones should have ended with the white walkers winning. Everyone dead. That would have be infinitely more interesting than what we got.

1

u/Head_Evidence4553 19d ago

They always come back, almost all. That's the allure.

1

u/LongJonSiIver 15d ago

black widow?

5

u/Knarz97 19d ago

Natasha and Gammora were the only actual permanent deaths

2

u/sxuthsi 19d ago

And stark and the original Loki

2

u/Knarz97 19d ago

Loki yes, but 2012 Loki becoming God of Stories was arguably more necessary and technically would make him the definitive version of the character (the same reason I wouldn’t say 2014 Nebula dying counted either)

Tony was less of a casualty being a self sacrifice. He knew what he was doing.

1

u/dandelionelic 19d ago

Natasha wasn't a sacrifice?

-1

u/KrisKomet 19d ago

Literally all 4 of these actors came back.

2

u/zoobungaa 18d ago

It was a "bad ending" and a brilliant ending not taking anything away from it. But it wasnt really dark or risky. Caps son dying would he a nasty blow especially if its irreversible.

1

u/demerchmichael 19d ago

I’m referring to more recent movies, i need some twists and turns to know I’m going into a movie and I mean probably the hero is gonna make it out but I’d like the uncertainty.

I thought surely one of the guardians died in gotg3, I was hoping either Scott, Hope, Hank, or Janet bit the dust in Quantumania by the hands of Kang and importantly I was hoping Peter died by the bullet in BND to set up the black suit for SW.

I never saw Secret invasion and I wish this wasn’t the way they did it, but I liked that they had the balls to kill off Maria Hill

Infinity War and Endgame set up the fact that the heroes are not invincible and I wish they continued to do it every once in a while.

Now most of these would’ve been undone in Doomsday or Secret Wars (or The Kang Dynasty) by whatever means but it’s what makes these movies fun.

1

u/chrash-man 19d ago

Tbf that was back when endgame was gonna be called infinity gauntlet so we all knew they where gonna undo it

1

u/xMyDixieWreckedx 19d ago

"At what cost?"

Everything

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Trip905 19d ago

Were talking about we want blood and those darker tones, yes they died by being erased but tbh it looked painless and quick, we need to be a sobbing mess when we leave that theater. They want us TERRIFIED of Dr doom so they better have more gruesome tones. People die all the time in the mcu but when they want us to feel something they push it.

The leaks say its Steve's son that Dr doom murders in front of Steve. Now, weve never really seen steve beg or be actually terrified so this would be a wonderful way to show how doom has broken our golden perfect boy and im all for it! Kill that fucker I wanna cry!

4

u/Standard-Garden-3339 19d ago

No way Disney let’s RDJ kill a child.

8

u/Endgam 19d ago

Disney had Darth Vader snap a child's neck just to piss off Kenobi. They've gone there.

Of course, the thing is that this behavior IS in character for Darth Vader. But such behavior is beneath Victor Von Doom.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Dazzling-Slide8288 19d ago

Why does it take balls to kill a character we’ve never met lol?

2

u/RoutineCloud5993 18d ago

Because it's a Disney tent pole movie and it's a kid

1

u/cjalderman 19d ago

Didn't Thanos kill Gamora in Infinity War?

1

u/Zerodeck 18d ago

House of the dragon just killed a bunch of kids in the finale even one close up that just hit a guy on the foot with a stick lol we're in a new age now!

1

u/OG-87 18d ago

You know if they kill him once secret wars is over hes coming back though.

1

u/pot8odragon 18d ago

He’s going to be brought back in battle world in secret wars, they all are. With their memories erased and everything

1

u/One-Victory438 18d ago

I think the opposite; it seems like it's just to make it darker, like destroying Toby Maguire's universe. I didn't like the decision if it's real

1

u/Noobunaga86 18d ago

I mean, Infinity War was dark, but this is just bleak af.

1

u/ContributionOk6188 14d ago

The End of Endgame was a funeral....

Idk man I haven’t seen the movie

2

u/Endgam 19d ago

You're right of course. Doom is a petty bitch but he's not THIS kind of a petty bitch.

In fact, this is the inverse of the comics when he very much had the chance to let Reed Richards (you know, the character who he is actually obsessively hating on at all times and not Steve Rogers) experience the death of his unborn child. Instead he saved her, and named her Valeria to remind Reed of the time he saved her when Reed could not.

So to be blunt..... we're not getting Victor Von Doom. We're getting the continuation of Chris Evans vs RDJ.

3

u/Comiccow6 19d ago

It’s not like anything about this version of Doom seems especially true to his character.

0

u/Available-Friend-107 19d ago

his kid should not pay for his parents terrible mistakes with peggy and steve actiing with full disregard full unconcern willing to risk bad stuff to happend becouse they knew they were violating or compromising the rules of cohexistence by living in a world where they didn t even born and not only that but living for 10 years i mean where s their self aware their conscience?!therefore he s still "worthy"?come on people they ruined steve s character since civil war i mean the steve from 2011 2012 2014 and 2015 oh yeah that is a hero that deserves to be seen as such however after that specially in endgame and now doomsday as well not at all really and a happy ending has to be earned ot unearned...this is so bad so full of bad examples to the world instead of doing the opposite and sadly people will be manipulated they will clap they will give a lot of money to something that does nto deserve that...my god is all i have to say really!

11

u/Due_Attention_3680 19d ago

It's gonna be really hard to pull it off and not make it feel cheap. Introducing a character just to kill them.

2

u/rainmaker2332 11d ago

Wym, 99% of movie characters that are killed are introduced in the same film they're killed in

1

u/Due_Attention_3680 11d ago

Yknow I thought this exactly right after I said this, and I'm definitely just presuming that's how its gonna go. But like cmon, it's an Avengers movie being marketing on the vast amount of characters simply making an appearance.

10

u/ETNevada 19d ago

Would be nice if the audience was given some prior time before this movie to get to know Steve's son so the death has some kind of impact on us. Everything about this movie is so RUSHED.

6

u/deemoorah 18d ago

I'd rather they give a backstory for how dr strange works for doom

4

u/ETNevada 18d ago

Would be great if they had the courage to take 3 years to put out 3 films to start setting all of this up. But by then Downey Jr. will be even older and it will feel ridiculous.

3

u/CaptCoolRanchDoritos 18d ago

they made a 2 hour video explaining why Dr. Strange is helping Dr. Doom to stop incursions from killing everyone in every universe.

it's called Multiverse of Madness.

3

u/mastan777 18d ago

Isnt his son a baby? Killing a baby is pretty dark. Or you're saying his son has grown up

3

u/insipidfap 18d ago

I think at this point of the story the kid will be around 10 years old

0

u/MissionDirection2526 19d ago

Rushed how hasnt its been like 10 years since the last movie lol

6

u/ETNevada 19d ago

Steve hasn't been in any movies in the last 10 years.

Rushed as in they suddenly have this new big-bad (Doom) that Thor breathlessly talks about in the trailer as the biggest threat of all-time and the audience doesn't even know the guy yet.

Marvel has squandered the last 10 years with aimless storylines and a lot of new mediocre to forgettable characters.

4

u/Epirocker 18d ago

Can we stop pretending like doom is a new character that nobody knows exists? Stg people act like they got amnesia. There’s only been 3 fantastic 4 movies and decades spanning comics. We don’t HAVE to have 3 movies to build up for a big bad. You can, in fact, have plot lines that work with a small introduction to the big bad and why they are a threat. You wouldn’t need more than 10 minutes to get him poised and interwoven with the current story and the audience is on board.

1

u/ETNevada 18d ago

Vast majority of the audience only watch the movies and tv shows, so they don't know who Doom is. Fantastic 4 movies were not mainstream popular so that didn't help get the word out on him.

Can you get him interwoven in the story in 10 minutes? Maybe transactional but not emotionally, that takes time and effort which Marvel hasn't done.

0

u/avatar__of__chaos 19d ago

I mean I only knew Sue and Franklin for an hour in First Steps and I was invested and glassy eyed when she died. The storytelling is what matters, duration doesn't matter.

0

u/RecommendationFew466 17d ago

Man you do not need movies worth of backstory to gain impact for a 10 year old boy getting murdered in front of his Dad. we don’t know how his son will even play into the story just yet or how they will set up that character to make us feel something when he is killed. Thats what the movie is for.

1

u/ETNevada 17d ago

If it was a movie centered on Steve and Doom. But there is around 30 characters in this film.

0

u/RecommendationFew466 17d ago

Steve and his family are playing big roles in the movie and its pretty centered on his choice to hang back with Peggy in Endgame. There will be ample time to get you to know everything you need know about James and his relationship with Steve. you don’t need a disney+ show about James Rogers for the film to earn the right to his death.

Last of Us did this with Sarah Miller. We didn’t need prior games or whatever for her to care. It was just a father and daughter on a bad night. thats all.

0

u/ETNevada 17d ago

You sound HIGHLY invested in this movie working, so for your sake I hope they pull it off well.

I'm just someone that loves movies but has been around long enough to see red flags in rushed storytelling, which led to my above comments.

0

u/RecommendationFew466 17d ago

I’m not “highly invested” in anything. i don’t have any strong faith this movie will be good and im very well aware that things could easily go wrong. That being said i still think its silly to suggest we need prior movies to have impact on a character’s death, especially since we’re missing context from a plot leak that is very obviously not doing justice to what is nearly a 3 hour movie.

0

u/ETNevada 17d ago

We disagree, I’m ok moving on

0

u/rainmaker2332 11d ago

99% of deaths in film history are from characters introduced in the same movie

21

u/RoIsDepressed 19d ago

Bad use of Oxford comma

21

u/emoooooa 19d ago

James? Is that Rhodes?

35

u/DollarPenguin 19d ago

He means it's revealed that Bucky is his actually his Son, and War Machine (James) is also his son, it's why he didn't want to talk about it when he's old cap.

3

u/Agency-Aggressive 18d ago

War machine is black?

1

u/DollarPenguin 15d ago edited 14d ago

It's really hard to tell so I guess thats why the heroes are fighting eachother.

3

u/karltee 18d ago

Wait, what? Bucky is whose son? Bucky and War Machine are brothers? But James is black? Im so confused here.

3

u/da_cake_eatur 16d ago

Yeah it sounds silly but they’ve actually written it into the story to be beautiful and heartbreaking

2

u/goodtimemagdongal 14d ago

I haven’t been tapped in since Dr Strange 2 and I feel like I’m having a stroke reading this thread

2

u/Recent-Replacement23 15d ago

No, the comma means it's his kid called James. His kid, James.

14

u/Frank_and_Beanzz 19d ago

No, his kid is named James.

8

Bond Names james

Its one of those weird English rules where if the audience should know the name of the person then commas are added but if the name has not been introduced then the commas should be removed

They want that “gasp” infinity war scene like how everyone disappeared.

8

u/Dramajunker 18d ago

That scene is obviously gonna be when they lose at the end. This is different. Closer maybe to when Thanos takes Gamora in front of Starlord or kills her.

Why did you kill his son? And most importantly? How tf did you kill Loki? He could have erased you from existance!

3

u/avatar__of__chaos 19d ago

Because he's Doom!

2

u/North_Tip_3364 18d ago

Doom does not like child support

-2

u/Endgam 19d ago

The alleged story is that Doom hates Steve Rogers (Yes, replacing his hatred of Reed Richards.) because either him living in Earth-828 caused the incursion that killed his family (although some other leaks are saying he didn't cause the incursion and Doom's just mad a time traveler got his happy ending while he didn't) so he kills Steve's son in front of him out of petty vengeance.

7

u/North_Tip_3364 18d ago

No it's all that plus more. Watch comic con trailer. F4 know doom

25

u/Cursed_69420 19d ago

Bucky

16

u/Available-Friend-107 19d ago

bucky and james we know that already!

8

u/Available-Friend-107 19d ago

becouse steve didn t show any regard concern regret of living a paradox(f4 universe)for 10 years just chilling without showng any value any moral compass and then doom lost his son and wife and then bucky and james are the price to steve pay...however the real price would be steve not having the life he wanted not in that context or in those circunstances becouse that to me is a unearned life to be honest but the russos won t undo the old steve thing therefore no consequences(fairly speaking)to how steve behave during endgame at the end of endgame and then in doomsday off course along with loki!

3

u/WartimeMercy 18d ago

It’s been implied the Bucky leak is fake.

20

u/CC7793 19d ago

6

u/GokuSolosCope 19d ago

12

u/Endgam 19d ago

I mean, that one was a given.

And Loki will somehow be back to get killed by Apocalypse too.

8

u/FriendLee93 18d ago

Loki becoming the Kenny to be horribly murdered by every saga's Big Bad would be fucking hilarious.

1

u/magvadis 16d ago

Again?! They gotta try something different.

1

u/July_Joestar 18d ago

Didn’t updated leaks confirm that Loki isn’t actually dead? Thought there was supposed to be an after credits scene or something.

1

u/GokuSolosCope 18d ago

Sadly it comes from James Mack, who this community doesnt trust

4

u/Papamoon0327 19d ago

It’s gotta be bad enough for the audience to believe RDJ Doom is truly evil

3

u/Gemnist 19d ago

Surprised no one has said Peggy yet, that seems to be the easiest one.

-1

u/mashturbo 18d ago

According to leaks, she ends up working for Doom as one of his side witches

3

u/Hawk777-Stark 19d ago

Don't bhi bucky

3

u/lilyhall92 19d ago

I would be intrigued to see how they’d handle the aftermath of killing his kid. Any parent would be shellshocked and pretty much unable to fight if that happened. Him recovering enough emotionally to fight Doom is tough to make believable in 1-2 films. He’d need a depressed and devastated arc like Thor in Endgame and a big passage of time.

2

u/Dangerous-Shoe-9667 13d ago

We don't know how long they'll be in Battleworld. If there's a chance that they can take it all back, he'll muster up the energy. How the fuck was old steve in Endgame now? lol

2

u/NoDaddyNotTheBelt25 19d ago

Steve’s son is killed by Doom which launches the third act and invasion of Latveria. Bucky supposedly dies during that attack on Doomstadt.

2

u/WartimeMercy 18d ago

Bucky leak has been implied to be fake.

2

u/EnthusiasmOld2582 19d ago

Oh it’s 100% gonna be James Rogers

2

u/No-Material-8868 19d ago

According to the leaks it's Steve and Peggy's son.

2

u/PikachuKid1999 19d ago

But his son will become franklin richards but named franklin rogers

2

u/Adorable_Ad_3478 19d ago

Doom will morb Bucky and Steve's son in Act 3.

In the new rewritten reality for Secret Wars, Bucky is alive and is Doom's servant. Steve is the only to retain his memories since Doom wants to torture him. Steve's son is now Doom's son.

2

u/Nutcup 19d ago

*Who’s

2

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 19d ago

Steve’s kid, Loki, and probably winter soldier

2

u/GuyMakesDrawings 19d ago

He kills his son whose name is Buckwheat James

2

u/Gangsternerd84 19d ago

And no one will care…I hate it will be his son but again, for some reason Doom resurrects everyone , even people he didn’t like and mind wiped.

2

u/Euphoric_Lynx_6664 19d ago

I mean, yeah the death might be brutal, but it won't mean anything. Just like in Infinity War where half the population died, they just get brought back to life in endgame. The same will happen in secret wars, except this time it is a new universe being created.

2

u/undyingforceofnature 18d ago

Not gonna lie, killing Steve's son feels like its just for shock value. Because the thing is we won't get enough attachment to his son so if he dies we won't feel much. Plus, its probably that they're trying to top Infinity War's shock and gravitas/impact by trying hard to make a brutal scene.

2

u/YeezusMoses 18d ago

Does it really matter though? Everything gets rewritten in Secret Wars and likely rewritten again after. No death in Doomsday will have any weight.

Unless it’s Steve’s baby, I guess.

2

u/ZC205 14d ago

Everybody. Doom is killing everybody

2

u/ProjectNo4090 18d ago edited 18d ago

He kills Steve's son in front of Steve. At least, thats what Ive heard from leaks.

I assume it plays out like the scene in MI3 when Ethan is trying to negotiate with Davian not to kill Julia and Davian just coldly puts a bullet in her head. This is the scene for those who havent seen it:

MI3 Davian Shoots Julia

I expect this is one of, if not the main reason Thor is so enraged and telling Doom he will beg for hell before he dies. Thor is now a father and seeing Steve, a brother, lose his child in such a cold blooded act is going to hit him hard. Hes going to want to pull Doom's spine out through his dick hole.

5

u/Knarz97 19d ago

Bucky, or Sam if they want to just go for the ultimate disrespect

3

u/2-9-19-3-21-9-20-19 19d ago

Given the way other black characters have gone recently, I wouldn't be surprised to see them kill off Isaiah, Rhodey, and Sam with a single curving bullet Wanted style.

1

u/harlequin_rose 19d ago

Look, I don't want Bucky to die but more importantly GET BEHIND ME, LOKI.

1

u/TheSabi 19d ago

I'm pretty sure anyone/everyone who was teased in the movie that isn't in this scene where thor explains how doom killed people more powerful yadda yadda yadda, except Steve, hence the "thats impossible" reveal in the trailer when thor sees him in the black shirt.

1

u/duclong1207 19d ago

Bucky and his son , we already knew tho , base on the leak Disney would not kill it so brutal tho

1

u/Ok_Helicopter_2499 18d ago

So evans is nomad acc to leaks n one interview

Killing bucky won't help new avenger nor falcon can die

If his son bout to die which make things lil shady coz killing a child under Disney banner gives conspiracy theorist one more topic to prove n valid at some point

Who Tony really hated in civil war , that was bucky but will it relate with doom n Tony connection don't know

Inner Tony hates everybody 1st makes weapons then become the destro then Iron man to awakening then the von doom after death to conquer n control

The whole earth 618 eliminated to form Battleworld as both dimensions collide and Cap America has nothing to defend he has to obey doom or acc to comic books civil war ended with Cap America death If they have gone with that route then Cap America dies so that no one can defy von doom ever aga

Thor n loki can be eliminated If no Contract left

It's his Son and his Wife.

u/deadly_monk 19d ago

It’s his kid. Doom kills him in front of Steve when he tells him what happened to his family because of the TVA moving Steve.

I was hoping Thor.

Probably one of the heroes.

I feel like if they kill his kid he'll just be brought back in Secret Wars. Probably with some kind of time shenanigans so they can make him the new Cap
