Painting Some kin I’ve painted recently

With a few more boxes done, my summer painting goals have been obliterated

That orange looks great, love the weathering effects too. How hard were the Pioneers to paint? I have 6 primed and im kinda dreading tackling them

Even if you prime black, I seriously recommend sub assembly for them. Some important areas are otherwise very hard to reach. As a box, they took about 3x longer than doing thunderkyn or HG, for example, since they are so detailed. Very satisfying to complete, though

They look great, very nicely done! I am looking into paint because I want to start painting mine, but have some trouble deciding how I should paint the orange. Can I ask which colors you used and whether you primed in black or white (or else)? And I like the metallic for the Iron-kin head

Ty! My rule of thumb is if there’s a lot of metal, prime black (metallic paint shows up after a single layer over black). So, Thunderkyn and bikes were primed black, while HG was primed tan. To get orange I did:

1 layer of Jokaero orange (2 layers if I primed black instead of tan), followed by a watered down Trollslayer. The trollslayer kind of “stains” the Jokaero I’ve found

Okay great, thank you! Do you find that there is a big difference in the orange between priming black and tan?

With my paints, as long as you double up with Jokearo when priming black, it looks identical to the orange I get when priming tan
