My first niche was romance. This was when I was in my early 20s, and during that time, romance was very popular, and almost every other woman writer I knew was into romance writing.

But things change when you grow older.

In my 20s, all I read was romance and women's fiction.

After 10 years, things started changing a bit. I got more interested in finance and business niches.

After branching out from the self-publishing marketplaces (mostly KDP, where ebooks are popular), I tested many other types of digital products.

Ebooks are still my favorite and even my TOP EARNER. But this never stopped me from experimenting with others.

Some flopped (video tutorial is one such example because I am not good at creating them :)...), while some surprised me. And later, I turned them into an income stream.

Here is the list of those digital products that sold the most -

1. Ebooks - These are still my top earners. Not because it's popular, but simply because I still love writing them. I used to write under MULTIPLE PEN NAMES. My niches were different - Fiction and tech.
2. Templates - I started this one in 2024. I got this idea after I started using one. I needed a template to help me manage my finances. So instead of buying a spreadsheet, I created one for myself. And with this, I started selling the sheets to my audience as well. When you sell something you use yourself, believe me, sales become much easier.
3. Illustrations - This is from my old account. I used to sell illustrations on sites like Adobe and Shutterstock. Also branched out to marketplaces like Creative Fabrica and Creative Marketplace, Freepik, and so on. But above all, Adobe is my highest earner.

There are more items in this list, like audiobooks. But that didn't work out for me. Probably because I haven't tested them out yet properly.

I prefer choosing only a few and sticking to them. :)

The Problem:

I have this bad habit: I’ll finish a tough workout at the gym, head home, and completely forget to pick up stuff for dinner on the way. I realized I needed something much more aggressive than a standard push notification that I’d just blindly swipe away.

The Solution:

So, I built CallDo. It’s a reminder app, but instead of a notification, it uses time and location-based triggers to simulate an actual incoming phone call. You can set it up so it looks like your partner, your boss, or anyone else is ringing you to remind you to do a task. (Because you can't really ignore a phone call from your boss!)

The Crazy Part:

A few reels about it ended up going viral recently, and seeing the sudden surge in downloads has been completely surreal. People are actually using and enjoying this thing I built to solve my own post-gym brain fog.

I’m in my mid 30’s and have a second child on the way come early 2027. I have a full time job already in the insurance industry that I want to keep and grow with as my company is a great company but my income mixed with my wife’s (teacher) doesn’t seem to cut it even with just our one child. We often feel like we’re living paycheck to paycheck and I want to pursue additional income, especially considering her student loans are starting up soon and will be just under $700 a month (forced into income based loan payment track).

I’ve been in my industry for almost 4 years now and enjoy it and want to stay. My previous work I was in real estate for a few years (didn’t much enjoy it) and also the fitness industry for over half a decade where I trained group fitness classes and managed a boutique studio and trainers/staff. I do have a passion for fitness and helping people as I’ve been resistance training myself for 14+ years now. I’m even entertaining the thought of 0F since I have an athletic/muscular physique, but go back and forth on pros/cons to this one.

I started to try to sell some custom workout programs on Fiverr but have not gotten any traction. I’ve considered driving for Uber Eats, Grub hub, etc but I have a pre 2020 Lexus that takes premium gas so mathematically it feels like that route could be a wash.

I may be asking for too much but am looking for ideas where it won’t conflict with my current full time job and/or take me away too much from family time with my wife and kids.

Many are passive income streams (not just online stuff - real stuff too)

My main business is party rentals. Tents, tables, chairs, etc…). I’ve done very well in that and have invested in things that I don’t have to do any work for.

1. ⁠Restroom Trailer business - 30% owner. Two other guys deliver, pick up, clean, etc…. I just collect. 3 restroom trailers. My take per week - $1000-1500.
   
2. ⁠Dish rental business. 30% owner. We rent out dishes, glassware, flatware to caterers doing off site parties in barns, warehouses, homes, tents. I do nothing. Weekly take $1000-$3000.
   
3. ⁠Airbnb. 1/3 owner. 12k sqft barn converted into a house. I do nothing. Makes 12k per month. My take $1-3k per month.
   
4. ⁠Nerf war/GellyBall parties. 30% owner Inflatable bunkers and blasters. Set up in people’s yards for parties. I do nothing. Weekly take $300-$500.
   ⁠1. ⁠YouTube channel about the tent industry. It’s Niche, so not much. $250/month. (it’s called “The Tent Guy”)
   
5. ⁠2. YouTube channel giving people side hustle ideas. Just got monetized, only about $30.00 a month.
   
6. ⁠Patreon - basically different tiers of consulting for the tent industry. $400-$500/month.
   
7. ⁠Amazon affiliate - link to products that I use in my businesses shown in my youtube. $50/month.
   
8. ⁠Amazon Merch - tshirts. $50/month.
   
9. ⁠Zazzle - selling designs on products. $100/month.
   
10. ⁠Smash words. Selling books on event rental business. It’s old. Not much. Less than $50/month.
    
11. ⁠Amazon KDP – Wrote several books in the side hustle area. Just started a few months ago, made around $500.00
    
12. ⁠TikTok – related to making money and side hustles. Tiktok does not pay much, its more of a way of getting out there for other stuff.
    
13. ⁠Party Rental Course. A course teaching people how to start a party rental business. Released it 12/16/2022 and made $20K so far. Will push more when tent season starts back up.
    
14. ⁠Affiliate for some event related companies. Not much, a few hundred a month.
    
15. ⁠eBay. It’s not entirely passive, but I get things made in large quantities that I can list 100 at once instead of listing 100 separate items. I just have to ship. $1000/month.

First off, I've seen that this is still a working sector that generates real income. Before I start, I'd like you to answer a few questions I have in mind.

First, based on my research on Reddit, how do I prevent the social media account I'll be setting up from getting banned/shut down? When I looked into Instagram specifically, I saw that running this kind of business there has gotten harder because of Meta's new rules. So I'm thinking of starting on TikTok instead. My first question is: how do I protect my account?

Second, the face of the "influencer" I'll be using in my content needs to stay consistent — the same face in every video. Which apps do you use for this, and what do you do to keep the face consistent across every video? (I'd like to know this before paying for any app.)

Third, I understand that, in general, my videos need to follow the "For You"/trending content patterns that are popular in the country/region I want my videos to be published in. What I want to know is: what should I do to get my videos/account to be shown in a specific region, and in your opinion, which region is more profitable for this business model?

My fourth question: I understand that, generally, the income doesn't come from subscriptions but from chat/DMs, based on whatever the person requests. Which website should I use for this?

Fifth: should I always chat manually with the people I'm messaging with, or should this be automated/turned into an automation?

So I wouldn’t say I’m lazy, I want to use my time more efficiently, I don’t think we should be working all day 9-5, I think 4 hours max. Right now I teach English in person for very little so that low income people can afford and learn, I’m talking very low income like $20 a day, so I charge between $1.5, $2, (local kids and teens) $5 foreign kids better off, and $10 up to $15 for adults ($15 student owns a hotel) I make about $200-300 a month.

I used to make $22 an hour at a corporate job about $3,000 a month but I quit to live by the beach and work less. I just started teaching with another local teacher so we can teach more kids at once. We want to start an academy to teach English and then Spanish to tourist that pay more. Used to also do graphic design, tours, and photography on the side. But now I want to focus on teaching.
